Around here all the cops drive CC's with OB's. I remember cruising along last summer beautiful day about 40mph and see the silhouette of one way up in the distance. I think "Oh great, the Cops". I look back in the boat at my less than stellar friends "F*ck" God knows what contraband they're carrying! Then I have to tell the girls who are sitting up on the sunpad with their legs over the seatback that they have to sit down fully in the seat because they have no life jackets on and they'll pull us over for sure about that. Then I wonder if there's any beer/alcohol in the cooler in the cockpit because they get pissed at that they want to see it in the cabin away from the operator. Pretty sure were good there. Then I think "Oh sh*t I didnt check our friends cooler!" So I yell back to my buddy to put his cooler down below "Why?" he asks "Because theres Cops up ahead!" "So?" "Just put it down below ok!!!" he does. Then I think about my lack of mufflers. Most of them dont care but some of them are nothing short of anal about it. I think Ok I'll speed up then be rolling off the throttles as I go by to keep the noise down. So we get up closer and closer and I see it's not the Cops its a couple in a CC with triple OBs. They pass us going the other direction and they wave all nice and nice. I wave.....WITH MY MIDDLE FINGER!!!!! :) :) :)

What the hell happened to Florida!

No one ever chuckles and asks"what are those" when you run practical, reliable outboards. The special effects generated when I bump the hatch on the Zul 1000's before startup is priceless. To me it is worth the minor inconveniences of thirsty, high maintenance, big inch inboard power. I do however understand the sterilized efficiencies that outboards provide to those that do not have a type A personality or a huge ego. (Guilty as charged!) The obvious conclusion is to accommodate all boaters choices. Let's face it, O/B powered CC's are the market staple. All the major performance manufacturers are popping new designs out, with the advent of O/B performance Cat's the latest and coolest trend. IMHO, anytime you are on the water, all other issues are meaningless. That being said, Mr. Fountain did not choose 400r's to power his kilo record challenge craft.:evilb: PS those motors in "Hot for Teacher" are rich at idle!

Pretty much every boat in Florida is a CC. You could sit around here all day long on the weekend and count the I/o "go-fast" and you wont even need 1 hand.
Seriously?....yuck! |
I hear Reggie is having Sterling turn 5 seven marine outboards into 1500 hp beasts so he can go for the eggbeater CC kilo record......

False. Insider information says he’s taking a pair of special 400Rs, throwing sponsons on the back of an old Allison, and going for the Kilo record that way. Back to his roots, baby, back to his roots! I heard “under a minute” bantied about, but I can’t remember if it was: - The time required to run the Kilo course -A Cigarette owner’s v-berth longevity. -Elapsed physical contact timeframe with a Fountain skank before contracting chlamydia. - |

In my area I know of 3 Cigs: a 42X, an older 38 TS TG that rarely leaves the lift and a old single step TG that literally idles to happy hour, stays for one drink and idles away. There is a 38 Powerquest that has to have 5,000 hours on it as the guy runs it every weekend. Just 10 years ago there were several TS TG's, a 47 GTX, an Apache 41, 3 Sunsation 32s, Skater 36, 2 38 PP's, a few Fastechs, 47 Fountain, couple Donzis. The best thing CC's offer is SHADE.....as I get older, more time baking in the sun is not what I enjoy. |

I think some of the activity/excitement has moved to Facebook unfortunately. OSO (and all forums) used the be the medium used to e-gather but that platform is now Facebook - a chat house for high schoolers and soccer moms with nothing else to do except post braggardly drivel about their precious little Timmy every day. (Full Force, the Timmy I referenced is a generic reference - not directed at you so don't get bent out about it)
