Teague makes a nice strainer as well, but it is sealed with several allen bolts so it is a little more time consuming to clean.

I am shopping for a pair for the 36 Outlaw.

Was ready to buy Machine Machine, they look awesome, when a dealer in Florida told me to go with Gill instead because they are smaller.

According to him the M/M are too big and reduce water pressure?

What is the thoughts on this?

Thanks Mark

The bigger the filter is the lower the pressure drop ( higher water pressure discharged from the pump) A bigger filter will not reduce water flow or pressure.

Go with MM, easy screw off lid for cleaning, and they look cool:D , worth the extra money, you know you'll clean them everytime you come back in, its so easy it takes 20 seconds.

I have the Gil strainers, and really struggle to get the lids back on after cleaning them, espcially if the boat's in the water. They are deep in the bilge, and the clamps are a real PITA to get centered on the flange of the body correctly. The other issue I run into is that there is only a disc for a strainer (not a basket), and this cuts down on filtering capacity a lot. It doesn't take much before they restrict the flow too much for good cooling. Since CORSA has bough Gil, they may have changed some of this now...
