polaris slingshot
So who has one and how do you like it. Who has one and wants to sell it. Lol.
I just went through some **** that has gotten me wanting a new toy. I used to ride motorcycles but like the side by side of the slingshot and not having to hold it up at every light. So I think this will fit what I am looking for. |
I talked to a woman last night that just picked hers up hours earlier! The guy she was with was behind her in a diesel crew cab that looked huge in comparison......made you really wonder if you wanted to take the risk of the slingshot!
She was super excited but then again she was still bringing it home! If I was looking for a 3 wheel toy I'd buy a Morgan instead (way cooler IMHO). Slingshots appear to have a rapid depreciation curve so you probably would do better buying used. |

These look really cool in person. Local jet ski shop had a Laguna out front for a few months. |
long as we're going w/ british accents and 3 wheels
this one does wheelies w/ the bigger engine |
Dont like them , dont get it might as well be in a car I love 2 wheels .

MSRP new is about $46k plus the shipping hoopla, so they appear to hold value. Still, for that kind of money, when I can’t hold up a bike anymore, I’ll have to opt for something starting with the words Factory Five.... Cobra or Roadster, both will give the open air feeling of a Slingshot or Morgan. New neighbor a few doors down has a Slingshot and loves it. Said he wanted to go riding when the weather broke. I politely declined and told him as a matter of self preservation, I try to stay at least 20 yards away from any and all things with more than 2 wheels while I’m on my bike. Several bike guys I know feel the same way about them. If they do ride with a guy in a Slingshot, he goes up front. Same with trikes. |
I get the two vs 3 wheel thing. I loved riding my bike when I had it and thought about getting another one. But with two bad disks in my back I don't see long rides being fun any more.
|
How about a trike? But that may not help with the bad back

Totally get it. I only fell and bruised my tailbone last month, then had 2 nice days and I tried to ride my new Road Glide. Made it 8 miles on day 1 before I turned around. Next day I rolled a towel up into a horseshoe and threw it on top of the seat, made a 40 mile round trip, couldn’t wait to park, and ordered a memory foam seat topper. Far from ideal, but as slow as I’m healing, it’s use the hemorrhoid pillow or leave the bike parked. Can’t imagine trying to pull off a long ride with 2 bad discs. |
My buddy has one and loves it. I have. Been in it a bunch of times it's cool. |
Yes my back can be ok one day and in a brace the next. I know it' not the same as a bike but the open air of it and the open sides I would think would be more bike like then sports car. Not looking to ride in big groups any more and the room do a over night bag for me and the wife to run to the boat in it would be nice. And back and forth to work have room for lunch, coffee and what not with out havin to where a back pack.

It depends on what you are getting it for. If you are looking to replace a motorcycle experience it is not the one. It has everything car- steering wheel, gas, brake and clutch pedals, stick shiift and dash. My Fiance has a Can.Am Spyder and, while more like a snowmobile riding position, is still the closest and safest to a motorcycle experience with 3 wheels.
If getting it for the sports car type I'd rather have a sportscar. Safer, faster. For the price of one new you can get a really good used Corvette , Mustang GT, etc. and have a lot more fun IMHO. BTW, I have 3 motorcycles and a Corvette, to go along with my lady's Spyder. |
CHeck the web for issues with the Slingshot. My buddies shop that sells them are constantly repairing them due to quality issues. |

From someone who developed the first concept, there cool and a ton of fun. Not many issues with them, there a GM motor and Asin 5sp Transmission. We are required to wear helmets when driving them which I think take away some of the fun factor but being able to talk with the person next to you is huge. Handle is really good compared to other 3 wheel vehicles. Stapilty control will let you have fun but catch you when things get out of hands. I drove on from Mn to Sturgis for work and had no regrets, have rode bikes in the past and almost prefer the SS. Can pick used ones up for low teens.
Let me know if you have any questions or if your looking at used ones send me a PM and I can look up the VIN and see if any work has been done on it. |

SLR are real nice rigs, lots of creature comfort that most end up upgrading to down the road. 21k isn't horrible I believe they are 25 or 26. Let me know if I can be of any help.

It must be. They are on the road here! I drove one at Indy Motogp a few years ago, fast as Hell, 100K here on the road
|
The cross bow are considered a "kit-car" as in they sell under I think its 500 a yr there for they don't have to meet emission and crash test ratings.

The 4 wheel conversions for the slingshots sure to look better than stock -- IMO

https://thekneeslider.com/polaris-sl...onversion-kit/ That looks badazz! 10-12.5K is steep but if you start with a used SS then I guess it is reasonable. Holiday, FL is 35 miles north of Tampa......yeah I had to look it up, had no idea where it was either |
They look fun when Tanner Foust drives them:
|
Saw a T-Rex getting after it last year. Crazy vehicle with that Hyabusa and the one I saw was turbocharged. Madness. Reviews i I have read on Slingshot were less than flattering. |
