I’m not buying it. But to clear things up. It was a boat we were going to buy. The dealer put it in the water to test it. Forgot to put the 3 drain plugs in it sunk at dock. Was pulled out same day fresh water. Was a great boat. Just happened Tuesday night/wedsday morning. We were supposed to go there Saturday.

I have seen that happen... even though the marina takes immediate action to "save" the engines from the bath - within a year+ EVERY electrical part will need to be replaced...alternator here, then a starter,,coils corrode along with the harnesses....never stops but the engine blocks are strong if they correctly did several oil changes to purge the internals

......and interiors don't like dunking - unstoppable mold factory unless the skins are pulled and foam is totally dried out as there will be moisture trapped long after the item appears dry - big process to do correctly vs the "should be good enough" attitude

What brand/model boat are talking about here? If it is a common or mass produced rig, my initial reaction would be to move on to another that is available with a clean history. If you are considering a unique, high end or historically significant craft, then MAYBE proceed. As others have stated, a lot of hidden issues down the road may impact you financially, including re - sale value. The folks here have a long memory, and a notorious boat will usually be outed! JMHO

Any photos of how far down she went?

You were shopping for a boat that had not (recently) been sunk. They changed the boat's category, so you are correct to move on.

I knew a boat that sunk on a Friday was back on the water by Sunday, over engines but below dash.

Just run from it as fast as you can. No amount of money and time can restore it to new. WAY to many unknowns to deal with. ALL electricals would have to be replaced, All fabrics would have to be stripped off and the motors would HAVE to be gone thru. As said before, if it is a "special" boat, maybe. Other than that run as far away from it as you can get. Just consider it the one that got away. Just my .02.

So it was sunk for a few minutes? That's just a good cleaning!
