Default boat repair

I have an old 1972 Gibson and it was taking on water the marina towed it out . I got an estimate of $8000 so I was going to just salvage the boat. They went ahead and fixed it without my authorization. Can they do this. The insurance company is sending me the check.

How long were has it been sitting there sinking? Have you been in written communication with the marina as to a timeline for removal? What does your contract with the marina say? I assume something like, "any derelict, abandoned etc. vessel may be removed by the marina at the owners cost."
