Brass raw water pump
I have the raw water pump apart off my 496ho and I have some light scoring inside which seems to be common with them. The scoring isn't very bad but don't want to put a new impeller in and have prime issues with it. Is there still a wear plate kit you can instead of replacing the whole pump?

If you replace get a pump from Hardin Marine.

The Hardin marine setup is the ideal setup. Howver. I've been running the Aftermarket Marine wearplate/impeller kits since 15' with no problems. If you can catch your fingernail on the wear ridges in the stock housing it needs attention. Just a new impeller will not fix your problem.

Have had one of these on both my boats without issue since 1995.
https://www.ebay.com/p/OEM-Mercruise...1173657&chn=ps Changed to the Hardin marine SS last season on the Formula and notice when installing that there is a slight rise in one side of the center edge. Don't know if this is an issue or not, but trying to get my oil temps down. Installed a water pressure gauge this season. Should be able to see what is going on. Woops my bad, wrong pump |
Captains Choice in Fort Walton Beach, FL normally has them in stock. At least that is where I bought mine. They work great, I've been using them for about 4 years with no problems...
