Geez, some real nice boats but lots of 2500 or 3500 SRW tow rigs pulling nearly 40' boats.
I don't like it when the tail wags the dog. Locally I could get away w/ it for sure but not on the interstate, not to mention boat & trailer exceed towing capacity for me. |
Towing capacity from manufacturers GM, Ford, Dodge, now a days is getting way up there 18000 to 22000 is not out of the norm. It takes a pretty big powerboat to go over those numbers.
I'm not saying it the perfect scenario but they are rated for that much towing. |

Takes a while to get anywhere but the turning radius is great !! |

Agreed but if you read the fine print that's not for a class V bumper hitch, that is 5th wheel or gooseneck towing.
It's even hard to find a 2 5/16 ball rated for 16,000lbs. Im more concerned about mounts and balls more than I am the tow vehicles. That sounds sooooooo bad. But how many 2 5/16 out there rated at 6k over the limit? I ask because I have a 2 5/16 in the smaller shaft which is for a 2” mount. Pretty easy to load a 15k trailer onto the ball. |

I have this style with a solid 2.5" receiver shank. The forged balls tend to have a higher towing capacity. The OAL is great for towing & manueverability but not so much for launching as I have to get the truck further down the ramp / stand in the water. |
