just saw this today offered by national liquidators National Liquidators - 2013 MTI 52, 52 ft. - National Liquidators

Bajaorlando 08-16-2018 11:53 AM

How does a boat of this caliber get to a liquidator? Does anyone know the story?

Super exclusive market made even more so by the ridiculous graphics. Been for sale for years it seems.

Bajaorlando 08-16-2018 12:05 PM

They really must have loved football. That does narrow the market quickly. They are definitely not giving it away.

If memory serves me right, I think I remember reading an article that It belonged to a former Giants offensive lineman.

Brad Benson, former offensive lineman for the New York Giants, has put his notorious Pass Blocker MTI up for sale

Boat was built by NY Giant ex offensive lineman Brad Benson. The helmet portion is not painted on. It's vinyl.

if that was true it would have been pulled off a long time ago

Boat was in Ohio a few years ago and I believe it sold at the time unless the deal fell through at the last minute. I don't believe it was owned by the ball player at the time. Had a neat seating arrangement up front where one of the bolsters lifted out to give access to the cabin.

edit- just looked at the boat in this thread. Definitely not the same boat. He must've had an older "passblocker" before this one.

Bostonirish 08-16-2018 06:25 PM

He had a 42 OL by the same name back in the day

That must be the one I saw. Lots of blue and yellow I think. I took pics of the interior because I liked that removable seat back. Was still called pass blocker. This was about 3 years ago roughly

Brad Benson Hyundai Sold Ends His Business | AutoMosys

Article says the dealership was in bankruptcy. If the boat was owned by the dealership then it was an easy out for him.

bck 08-16-2018 08:38 PM

That article reads like it was written by a Nigerian scammer during his coffee break.

Padraig 08-16-2018 09:28 PM

Never thought I would say this about a MTI but that thing is FUGLY!

So many of these boats are are tough to sell due to wild paint and color combos.

Past the helmet that’s a badass boat

pslonaker 08-16-2018 11:08 PM

someone should ask Bernie out of Jersey, he had the boat listed and seems to know everything about everything in the boating world

rak rua 08-17-2018 12:25 AM

Put the engines and drives up for sale in the swap shop then park the boat alongside Al Copeland's "Phenomenon" and package the two for 100K.

I'm sure it's a great boat in many ways but who wants it? It's not the first boat that was custom built for ONE man and I'm sure it stroked his ego nicely but when it's time to sell, for whatever reason, you're hunting a very very small part of the market.

Remember this boat had that weird story where it took on some water during the Key West PR. The escape hatch popped open on the bottom of the boat and they beached the boat vs. letting it sit in the water. Then it was lifted off the beach with a crane onto its trailer.

Yep, I remember seeing the pics of the boat beached. This is a tough sell. I can see the boat itself being sellable, but w/ 1650s? Tall power with really tall upkeep and short life expectancy. Take the stickers off, put sensible power in it and someone might grab it.

Bostonirish 08-17-2018 09:38 AM

If the boat was owned by the dealership that went bankrupt wouldn’t it be an asset of the dealership therefore going straight to auction as opposed to being brokered first ? With some of the wild stuff that’s out there now I don’t see how this WOULDNT sell. Just my opinion unless there is some damage of course .

PigNaPoke 08-17-2018 11:13 AM

$699k suggested bid? :bong:

good looking boat but they'll be lucky to bring half that... these boats are terrible investments. :champs:

Tom A. 08-17-2018 11:32 AM

That boat is a pretty good deal when you are talking about that size boat and that kind of money.

You can buy that boat for $600K (original listing had dropped to $629K), take it to MTI to have the roof cut off and boat repainted ($100K), have the engines and drives gone through ($100K), and you could be in a "new" custom to you 180mph+ 52' MTI for about half of what it cost to build a new one.

As for me, I don't have that money nor do I want a boat like that.

the lender would get their collateral back, it's up to them how to get rid of it after that

I don't want any 6 yr old big boat with expensive big power...... but your math looks pretty good and the boat would be like new!

iamjoe 08-19-2018 07:06 PM

Seriously?? Does it really cost $1.6 mil to build a boat like this? I think the warranty for the motors reads, :"close your eyes; what do you see?" I know merc has advanced big power, but this kind of power from this type of motor would mean they have a short fuse and must be maintenance monsters. no? I get the entire "if you have to ask" thing, but think about the cost of just owning this thing. It could be like new with the exception of being slightly dunked in salt water. Looks like an enormous pain in the azz........... even if the money doesn't matter.

Tim G. 08-19-2018 07:20 PM

Bad news for all you guys about to place your bids... Those helmets and graphics are painted on. It wouldn't be hard for a Class A painter to run the lines through the helmet area, and redo the chine area where the roman numerals are... Aside from that, the paint job on the boat is incredibly nice in person. Yes, a tough sell, but its a very fast boat. Need to teach someone a lesson... This is the weapon you need.

flat rate 08-19-2018 07:35 PM

Kinda funny everyone is saying how tough a sell this boat is! (I agree!). But when pressure makes diamonds sold everyone thought it was to cheap !! And they boat is rough in person

I just did some very simple maths of my own.....
If I sold my low hour, turn key Donzi for a good price, I could use the money to service one of the engines in "Passblocker".
Makes me feel kinda small. :(

rough was an understatement. not to mention both bullets needing rebuilds

rak rua 08-22-2018 10:57 PM

Good to hear, I'm sure it's an awesome boat, hope the new owner gets many seasons of enjoyment.
Does that mean I was wrong......? Naah, maybe they just found the right buyer. :)

Being he is in the strip club business I wonder if he could tweak the "pass blocker" theme:
