Default Who uses the Emergency/Parking brake on their truck when launching?

Who uses the parking brakes on their truck when launching? I have a 2011 GMC Sierra CC dually Duramax/ Allison and it has the crappy little brake shoes inside the rear disc rotors. My other dually was a 96 and it had the monster 2.5 wide brake shoes. I have always used the emergency brakes when the truck in on the ramp and in park. On my 96 the brakes would hold the truck still, but on the newer truck they don't seem to have a big effect. Just today I had the emergency brake shoes on the rear lock up and they are dragging hard now. So now I wonder how many people actually use their emergency/ parking brakes at the launch ramp.

I use mine every time before releasing main brakes so truck doesn't roll back against parking pawl. Makes truck shift back into gear much easier with now jerking when pawl releases. They seem to hold my 2011 GMC CCSB duramax just fine with a 380 powerquest on the trailer.

Too many videos of trucks being pulled out of the drink so e brake, locked in 4 wheel, Park, etc. My brake doesn’t hold the best on my Z71 but even if it just slows down a f***up enough for me to correct it I’ll take it, lol.

I always use mine on my 2016 Duramax, never had a problem with it holding. Even using it with my skid loader/gooseneck it holds just fine even on hills.

I use mine for this reason (not that I think it keeps the truck for going all the way into the water).

Always. I try to keep wheels out of the water tho. My wheel bearings would get locked up if they were ever partially submerged (07 chevy z71). That can feel like the parking brakes are locked up.

I always use mine; launching, parking on hills, when it’s going to sit for extended periods. However, I’ve owned the truck since new, and have made it a habit after seeing dozens of parking brake cables locked up from rust when I worked in a shop.
