Default The Shootout’s Slowest Boat

Only time will tell if electric boats have a place at the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout in Central Missouri, but after last weekend, Torqeedo and Boating magazine made a case for it.

Might be a while, and JMO, but as with cars, once they get battery power and longevity sorted out, look out.

Now owning a 17' C.C. with a 90hp outboard I'm impressed with this effort. I'd suggest doing some work on that big square console that hits the air like a barn door and move the driver to a lower helm seat like a flats boat, possibly could pick up a mph or two. ed

That's what I was thinking. An 80hp should get different boat going a lot faster.
Also, I know they have to have safety and all but damn.... a helmet for a 25mph boat?

The helmet is an unbendable Shootout rule, and probably a provision of the event's insurance policy. (Follow the money, always.)

Plus, it made for an entertaining photo.

If you're not wearing the correct life jacket and hit the water, the water can rip the helmet off, with your head in it! Need a flap in back of neck and on crotch.

A company made an electric stand up jet ski last year. It lasted about 5 minutes before I never heard of it again.

Get Tesla involved in a boat and we might have something.
