Default Key West But No OPA Englewood?

Does anyone go OPA or both Englewood and KW?

I see tons of KW threads and no OPA love, what gives?

Thanks
Keith

Key West is the largest performance boating event in the nation if not the world. Kinda dwarfs anything else that falls anywhere near it.

Speed on the water will be covering the OPA in Englewood, and you get to see some highlights right here. If you go to the following thread you can see everything that was shot this year.

Calling for 50+ boats. Day one is usually calm, day two rough as hell. The course is long, yet easy to see. 5 killer bars in a spotless town full of nice people with everything you need in walking distance. Want to party? Go to Key West. It has the history, it has the name. If you want to watch some kick ass offshore racing and hangout with the racers? Go to Englewood.
Usually Super Vee Light, Unlimited, SuperStock and a handful of Production Class boats make the trip from Key West to race with OPA as well. Key West will have more Supercats, which is definitely a draw.

Englewood Questions?

What dates are the race(s) ?
Start Time ?
Classes ?

Marina hosting the race fleet?

Course?

Yes I will be there, educate me.

the loto shootout would be by far the biggest drawing performance boating event. It has dropped in size a lot the last few years just like keywest has. But still draws thousands of boats. If they would organize a good “offshore” class race the same weekend it would probably start growing again. Maybe test Friday shootout Saturday (busiest day for shootout) then race Sunday. It would bring more spectators and competitors for each event.

When I wrote that I thought LOTO could be a good runner-up. As far as number of people attending event, I don't see LOTO as a bigger event. While an insanely large event, I still think Key West is the largest in the country / planet between poker run, races and people just going to be there during all the festivities for a longer event as well. But I'm picking up what you're throwin' down.

Thanks,
