I think I'm going to the Hydromotive Q4x next. Heard good things about them.

Here's my 3-blade Bravo 1 from the Talon.... It was labbed, and that is behind 680HP.. The prop lasted about 5 years before it thru the blade....

I do not remember the year but back when my shops work on bass boats - we seen many Merc props with cracked blades. And they were not from impact damage either.

I have a Q4x I run on my boat a lot. It’s got a little less slip than a bravo one and handles about the same.

I’ve never had a problem with cracked or throwing blades. I’ve been running the same labbed 30 bravo for about 12 years now with 825hp. May just be luck of the draw with the casting process.

When you said less slip, if I ran a 28 B1, I should start with a 27 Hydromotive Q4x

When testing props I was comparing a 30p lab bravo to a 28p Q4x. The Q4x was a couple mph faster in the cruise speed and ran the same top end speed and rpm as the 30 lab. Based on that, if you’re running 28 non-lab bravo ones and you’re happy with the WOT RPM, I’d probably run 28p Q4x.

B38, how did you know the prop was cracked? Vibration, or did you see it while stopped?

Noticed vibration and pulled back. Then when in reverse it went crazy vibration. Then I new something was wrong. Raised drives and could clearly see the crack .
