ease the tension - Golf anyone?

Seems to be alot of name calling and my daddy's gonna beat up your daddy stuff going on lately ......SO..............Let's get back to basics. Here's a good question - Who are the GOLFERS on here and who has the lowest handicap? Let's get w/ OSO and plan a golf tournament. I will gladly handle the details. Where should we hold the tournament? I am good friends w/ Geoff Sarazen(Director of golf at a really nice course here) Atlanta? He can hook us up on a special rate - or even play at the Cocktail Cove course????

Going to myrtle beach 2nd week in dec.--15 handicap

Wild 10-30-2002 09:59 AM

I am in, where and when. my handicap is about 17

ouch

Randy

THEJOKER 10-30-2002 10:05 AM

Let's plan this thing right - In the spring on Lake Lanier. Those of you who want to bring boats can, others fly in. Tournament on Friday and Cocktail Cove on Saturday. I'll handle everything on my end and make it affordable for everybody. BH

Eric1969 10-30-2002 10:58 AM

I would love to play. Would we play PineIsle or Emerald Pointe?

Handicap - 11.

Eric

THEJOKER 10-30-2002 11:16 AM

Pine Isle

Eric:

I would think the Pine Isle course. That way we could play the hole at Cocktail Cove. I'm keeping a list of people interested. Let's make this happen.

BH

Tonto 10-30-2002 11:34 AM

I'll watch from the SeaRay at the cove :D
Robert

THEJOKER 10-30-2002 11:51 AM

Robert:

I'm putting you down for main support party boat after the event. We'll practice in Key West - BH

Tonto 10-30-2002 11:54 AM

Yeh, Key West......Ladies and Gentlemen get your livers READY :p :p
Robert

Eric1969 10-30-2002 11:58 AM

I think Tonto and others sitting in their rides in the cove is a great idea. It will give us something to shoot at!!!!!

Closest one to the SeaRay wins!!!!

Tonto 10-30-2002 12:00 PM

I have been hit by a golf ball out there before, it ain't fun
Robert

Eric1969 10-30-2002 12:11 PM

Holy Crap!! I will assume you were not parked on the shore. How could someone hit you in the cove? Scary.

We could give you a fighting chance and let you move!!!!

Uncle Toys 10-30-2002 12:12 PM

How about Palm Springs in the dead of winter?

Use to be a 10, since kids and boats....

cigarette1 10-30-2002 12:18 PM

Palm Springs sounds good ..... my 18 handicap sounds bad

The problem with enjoying golf and boating is, whenever it's a good day to golf it's a good day to boat :D

THEJOKER 10-30-2002 12:36 PM

Lake Lanier

If we can have the tournament here I can get some local sponsors involved including our sponsor Z-93. The winning team can walk away with some awesome prizes and cash. The Pine Isle Golf Course is a beautiful course with a hotel and docks. Anybody that can bring a boat would be great but not required. Let's make this happen - Tonto can drive the beer wagon - BH

I'm already writing down names and handicaps ---

Eric1969 10-30-2002 12:38 PM

Oh, if you are writing handicaps down, change mine to a 25!! Especially since their are prizes involved!!!!

Uncle Toys 10-30-2002 01:36 PM

PWRBOATTOURS - Is there a commercial airport near by? How close to Atlanta are we talking? Dallas/Fort Worth might be the easiest sunbelt/dead of winter location for everyone i.e. American Airlines (just my 2 cents).

Are we talking flying in one night, golf the next morning, dinner party after, fly home hung over the next day?

THEJOKER 10-30-2002 03:08 PM

Uncle:

Hartsfield in Atlanta is only 35 minutes away from the lake. I'm thinking next spring and make this thing real. We can have the tournament on a Friday , Cocktail Cove on Sat - Sun . The main reason I want it here is we have a really awesome course on the water and hotels , etc are all here. Give me time and commitment from the board and I can raise some serious jack. Golf - $$$$$$$ and Boating - hell yea! BH

Actually, after re-reading your original post and finding the above quote, it should be where you want it to be. :D

Bottom line: it sounds like a gas!

Fresh - You tuned in? How many SCOPE golfers are there?

Chart 10-30-2002 04:44 PM

Double Bogey golfer.

MIdnightRider 10-30-2002 05:29 PM

Its tough to be a die hard boater and a golfer. I love to golf though, I play allot during the week and have been on a thursday league for years. We play local coarses here in MI, actually we have some of the countries best. I played good this year early and late. Some A-hole stole my clubs in July so it took awhile to adjust to a new set. I think I am really a 12-13, my league has me at a 10. I did shoot a 80-81 in our local coarse championships the last weekend in Sep. which I was happy about. That was with a 6 and a seven Saturday, and a F@#ckin snowman on hole 2 on Sunday. I only play one way, serious, be it boats or golf, its never as relaxing as it should be. I am ex Hockey player I cant help it. My dream is to retire early in Florida, live on a golf coarse, and keep my hot rod Outerlimits at Sunny Isles. Midnight:cool:

florida gator 10-30-2002 08:27 PM

Midnight, I agree about boating and golfing. Whenever I sell a boat, I am able to get my handicap down around 12. Then when I buy another boat, back up to about 20+.

Eric1969 10-31-2002 08:27 AM

I do not believe this thread should be deleted. If someone doesn't want to attend, then that is their decision. Please keep this going so those who wish to attend can meet some new people and have a great time.

Tonto 10-31-2002 09:47 AM

BH
I'm not going to play in the golf tournament 'cause I don't play golf, but I'll be GLAD to drive the beer buggy :D :D . Sounds like it should be alot of fun. Just let me know and I'll have the SeaRay stocked :p .
Robert

mpally 10-31-2002 10:12 AM

My handicap? I am severly handicapped. I guess it is around 20-22. I usually shoot in the 90's. I just don't have the time to dedicate to the game. We have fun though and no matter where you go, you can play golf.

THEJOKER 10-31-2002 10:21 AM

Tonto you're the beer guy - I've got everybodies screen names and handicaps written down. Let's keep this thread going. Eric I will need your help locally in setting up the tournament. You in? The Atlanta Power Boat Club members are welcome also. Thanks for the interests so far - BH

Tonto 10-31-2002 10:26 AM

BH
You need me to do anything? I'll be glad to do whatever I can :p
Robert

pachangalpina 10-31-2002 11:01 AM

I am not a golfer and may not be a boater if I don't get this water out of my motor, but I am willing to help with the tournament if needed.

Do you ever feel like a deer on season opening day?

Tonto 10-31-2002 11:04 AM

I would love to help. I have other friends that play golf and boat also. We have sport boats though. So please try and minimize the number of people who wish to ride on our boats and speed up and down the lake and look cool. You want a fun ride? Take my 17' FourWinns on Lanier on a given Saturday and enjoy the fun. ;) ;) :p :p

OldSchool 10-31-2002 11:22 AM

Put me down as a 20 handicap:D just kidding:D
I ended the season with a 7.8 index. Luckily, I work four 10 hour days with every wed. off. That is the official golf day for me. Weekends are too crowded and slow play sucks:D plus the weekend is for boating!!

Cheers, Craig

pachangalpina 10-31-2002 11:22 AM

Tonto,
First time out and oil cooler came apart and turned syn. oil into tooth paste. Minor setback. Still shopping for new boat though. Rose wants a Fountain:D

THEJOKER 10-31-2002 11:25 AM

Eric:

Your credibility is already proven. We are a Four Winns dealer - haha - TalMarine.com

Todd:

If you need any help with the motor let me know. We are a Mercury Hi Perf dealer - call AL in parts 770-945-2628 and tell him I said to hook you up.

Tonto:

Can't wait to see the bad ass Apache' in KW. Any scoop on rooms w/ a dock? BH

Tonto 10-31-2002 11:33 AM

BH
I don't know of any houses/rooms with a dock down there :( . If your just now looking, I would say you're out of luck, but who knows.

I knew it!!! Are you Brian Hollis? Is Louise your spouse? I bought my boat from Brant and I really enjoyed the experience. This was our first boat and he did a great job explaining boats in general to me.

I have dealt with Al a lot this past summer. Had some "hurdles" with my VDO instrument panel. What a mess! How often are you at Tal?

THEJOKER 10-31-2002 02:20 PM

Eric:

Cool - Louise is my partner and throttle girl. She dates Greg Sanders our navigator. Louise and I teamed up this year and will be building the 28's (JokerPowerBoats.com) in 2003. AL is a great service manager. I'm in and out of the dealership weekly. If you come by let me know so I'm sure I'm there. OK Back to Golf - Looks like Craig223 is low handicap man so far. I'm thinking about big bucks for the winning team and the good thing about having it here on the lake is I can get small business's to sponsor. This should be a blast! BH

mama tryed 10-31-2002 08:53 PM

Hey Brian,, Sounds like a BLAST!!!! Count Mama and I in, as long as you give us plenty of notice, on the Dates!!!
What are you looking at, 2man or 4man, Best Ball???
It sounds Great no matter what, as long as we have One day on the Water!!!!!
Oh Yea,,, Mama is a 10, but her Handicap is a 25,, on a Good Day I'll play to a 14!!!!!!

Count Us In!!!!!!!!!!!! We really don't care what "Sanctioning Body'" you prefer! :D :D :D

THEJOKER 11-01-2002 11:26 AM

You're IN

Mama:

Ok got ya on the list. I would think the " Lauderdale" format would be best but it's up to the board players. We'll have a long drive contest , etc. I'm planning on having some awesome prizes for this thing and it'll be worth the trip , I promise. BH

Boating Fool 11-05-2002 12:55 PM

This could be something that I might be interested in. Maybe mama would let me even ride on his boat. I am only a 6 hr drive from Atlanta. Perhaps Magiccat28 would like to go. He is a pretty good golfer.

Hey mama, we could hook up down at the lake and get some pratice in drinking er I mean playing. I was at Kerrys Landing a few weekends ago. That course has gone to hell!!!!

Risk Taker 11-05-2002 02:50 PM

Currently an 11.8 index. I don't know if I can make a tourney, however once plans (dates, location, etc.) start to take shape, maybe.....maybe.......maybe.......
