This is interesting. might take a closer look. Bertram 29'
Twin 454 inboards. $15K. Worth restoring? Any racing history?
Just curious, need something to do, now that I'm bored in Calif.

Default 'One of a kind' Bertram Baron 28.

Cool find, but not an original twin inboard. Tony Cavallo, the owner of Hi-Tide Boat Sales & Service in San Rafael, who owns a red Bertram Baron 28, knows this boat. Tony: "That was my friend Al Dring's boat in Lake Berryessa. It had Big Blocks, but was at one time stern drives, it porpoised so much that it had the hugest plates on the transom, a piece of s..t, and BB was in the passenger seat, that is why I tuned my Bertram bottom. Every time I would put the throttles to the end, the boat would jump out and I could not hold Her down. I was told that it had 6 cyl. engines originally. Do not know what drives, but Al had it and I never saw it run fast, They were car engines, If anybody knew Al, you will understand, cheep, But he would go to the Bridge and take pic of the Ladies in their bikinis. Look at the plates, too close to the bottom."
Take Your time for the right boat PARADOX. This is obviously not 'The One' to restore. Lots of true gems around the lakes in California. Tony's friend Steve might have his original 1975 Team Scarab 9 Meter for sale, (bought it in 1976). 3rd or 4th one made, according to Larry Smith. All original, but the interior and engines new 15 years ago. Mint! See photo below.

Looks pretty narrow, I even doubt twin outdrives would fit with those huge tabs. I will contact the owner and take a closer look.
I happen to have a perfectly well working 454 mag in my old Infinity, and to get another 454, no big deal. I wish I could sell my Avanti fast, I'll be all over this.

It's got twin V-drives. As 'Brownie' says, no 'instruments of the devil' needed. Another photo of Steve's Scarab and a Larry Smith Team Scarab 30, with Arnesons, but without power, now for sale in Novato, CA for $22.5k to get Your mind off this Bertram. If that Kevlar49 1981 Scarab is structurally sound, (it had a racing accident at least once), well then You'll never look back. That's a famous race boat!

Thanks for the info. Not particularly looking to get a project, just came across the Bertram. A friend of mine in Daytona Beach has a Bertram 38 restored, (sort of, still working on it, but of course any boat is a constant work). Just realized that the B 28 both drives have left hand props, not counter rotate. Don't want to mess with it. Pass. Sort of like the lines and strakes though.
