Ah! What other brands does Warren Distribution make? Oil threads can be OK as long as everyone respects others opinions. I learned a few things from this thread. The 5w20 and 10w30 Amazon oils tested as good as Mobil 1 and I'm switching 3 cars to it. Maybe someone will do some testing on the 20w50 oil. I will look into the Mobil 1 15w50 at Walmart but not sure what I will do yet. I've always used the VR1 20w50 in the boat.

I have been running Brad Penn and also Schaffers with excellent results. At the end of the day however, i truly believe that oil does not matter much in a boat as long as you don't overtemp it as we change the oil to often as is. My last boat I put hundreds of hours on 15-40 Rotella - 350 small blocks consistently buzzing 4500rpm with no oil coolers, 6 qt pans.

Contamination or bad assembly/part failure is more to blame for issues than oil in this game when you only run 10-20 hours on that oil - paying a higher price at the end of the day to know you got a quality product just makes yourself feel better.

Also the WIX "racing filters" are rated for about 61 micron.....vs a normal WIX at around 20-25 micron depending on the application.

I run the K&N Racing Filters. Always had good success, you know its still winter when the Oil Thread comes out of hibernation. LOL

to compare quality and how well oils perform and filters - it basically can not be done without oil and filter analysis studies. If you were to take the top ten reason why an engine has failed - the oil itself is not one of those reasons

So it sounds like it might be OK for me to run the Amazon 20w50? I want to correct myself on the price. It's only $16.99 delivered to your door. That's $3.40 per quart plus the convenience of delivery. I'm already switching 3 cars and a truck to Amazon oil.

The reason these filters are not intended for street use is the micron rating. These filters will capture particles as small as 61 microns. WIX-51069 filters, for example, will capture particles as small as 21 microns. The race filters are less restrictive, and allow for more flow. However, they are meant to be used once and thrown away (and the oil replaced with clean, race oil). They should not be used on a vehicle that is driven regularly. They will not filter the finer particles that come from the wear and tear of driving a car for 3,000 miles before changing the oil and filter. Those fine particles in the oil can cause wear, damage, and restriction to oil flow throughout the engine, over time. We hope that helps clear things up for you.

I cringe when I see these filters being used in Marine engines!!! People see the word "RACING" and have to have one. Little do they know what is happening to their engine internals.

Over 1200PPM zinc is really good now a days.
