They started raising the X in 02’ so you might benefit from them, I wouldn’t use the sport masters, I’d use these XR Sport Mercury Racing they don’t have the huge skeg the sport masters do.....turning the props inward will generate more of a rooster than out, it will also help lifting the bow, as already mentioned, I also heard when they made the mold, and they didn’t extend the inner strake, they’re more prone to run wet so get as much weight out of the front, they have a huge engine bay, store stuff back there....they’re never going to be a speed demon but you might get a couple mph out of it.... as for XR’s, ( uppers)I’ve witnessed them self destucting behind 500EFI’s, so I wouldn’t rush right out to buy a set of those

No. If you want to go faster, sell it and buy the newest 42 fountain you can afford. Or hustler 388, 39 velocity, scarab avs, active thunder 37, formula fastec 382 etc....
Nothing you do to it will be “worth it” when you can buy more efficient hulls for the same $$$.

If you just bought it I'd keep the money for a season until you figure out what it really needs.
