What is the life expectancy of the Mercury Racing 700’s. (In a 42’ fountain). I noticed a lot of boats are put up for sale around the 300-400 hour mark. Are these engine/boats a lot of headache at 400-700 hour range? Do these engine make it to 1000+ hours?

The 700s are a great package, especially with the ability to upgrade them easily with the different Stage Kits.

I'd say at the 300-400 mark you should have at least the top ends done. Even that number seems a little high, I guess it would depend on your use. I would assume just like any Mercury High Performance Engine. 500 Hours you would assume it needs a Full Rebuild. Black Standard Power Mercury Engines like the 496HO and Equivalents have made the 1000hr mark with out opening.
