Simple , it was part of Obummers attempt to make communisim more normal to the American people.....

You can't get there by cruise ship or recreational vessel but you can easily fly in via a neighboring country.

Place was a mystery since it was closed for so many years but in reality it is just another dumpy 3rd world island nation.

Had some friends go just a few weeks ago and yes dumpy. But you know I have a little different view, why can't we go? I have been to china so much I have a Chinese name and its communist country.

I thought maybe if enough "free world" travelers went there the people would see how much better it was and force a change. But who knows, and like JS said, you can still go just stop at another country first.

I don't think it helped US/ Cuba relations any when Cuban troops helped Maduro keep control of Venezuela.

I think it’s a bummer, I was hoping to take the boat there next year... I could care less about politics, all I wanted was a good cigar and a mojito...
