Default Newb Intro

First post ... tend to lurk and learn; long time jet boater with a new found interest in larger prop boats. Need to get some ducks in a row but expect to be in market for a 26-32 within the next year or so ... mostly for northern VA but plan to make trips to MI and KY as able.

I'm an engineer by education, still serving in military and have always been very hands on; I have gel'd two boats along with bottom work, stringer and floor replacements but know there is always lots to learn especially with the prospect of props, drives, trim tabs and etc!

Cheers

Our first boat was a 27' Fountain Fever. Stock 502mpi with Bravo drive. Very easy to trailer and ran 70mph, which was perfect for our local river boating. Served us well for 3 years. ...until the 3foot-itis started creeping in. Then we went to a 35' Fountain Lightning. Now the 42.

Good luck!

It is done ... we are the proud new owners of a '99 Donzi 33 ZX, 502 MPIs (we were looking for blues but this one came up local and cheap). As stated earlier, we are not afraid of projects ... our new Donzi's cockpit interior and sunpad is roached so that needs attention, there are some not so well done touch ups on the gel/paint that will need some love and finally, the trailer is in need of bunks and a better bow stop.

All that said, we are stoked! Looking forward to learning more and asking lots of questions ... currently working to piece together cables and hardware for mechanical drive trim indicators ... previous owner scrapped due to seized cables.

Thanks in advance!

4 more posts and you can start posting pics. You could start a thread in the Donzi section with pics and progress reports.
