Default Engine Flush without Thermostats

Finding that adding blowers with closed cooling system is challenging. Thinking about going raw water cooling on my old school 454 Mags (cast iron heads) and simplifying things.

Quick question - I plan to run them without water thermos - can I flush engines without running them and still get the salt out? Boat stays in water year-round by the way and has arneson drives so water pickups are through hull. I have those plastic perko things to flush now but frankly don't trust em.

I'd stay with closed cooling. IMHO.

What issue are you having ? Maybe someone can help ?

You’re not gonna get all the salt out of the motor without running it
