Boating season's not over yet

53 deg and sunny in Richmond. That's about 10-12 deg below normal and we still went out today. It was a great day although a little chilly, 55 deg at 55mph is pretty cold. But supercharged 502s like cool air and it ran great. So where was everyone else??? Saw plenty of fishing boats but NO perfromance boats. I'm goimg to stay at it at least through Thanksgiving. We allways try to have a turkey sandwich run before winterizing.
They're calling for 60's next weekend, anyone else up for a run?

atan 11-03-2002 10:31 PM

Well I can't speak for Richmond, but I can speak for Maryland!:) Velocity Mike, bsag ,Extreme Fanatic and I went out today, highs of 57, and we had a GREAT time!!!!:):):) We had 3 other boats meet us. One of which was Mark from southern Maryland. We couldn't have asked for a better day!!! Thanksgiving ( huh ). I am thinking December. I can never be too cold!!!:)

Mark in So. MD 11-03-2002 11:19 PM

angie, definietly a great time. glad to see you all. we'll have to do at least one more before the dreaded boat winterizing!

It's just about over up here. Picture is from this past weekend:mad:

BillR 11-04-2002 07:18 AM

Mate 229,
Next weekend is looking real good SO far. How 'bout coming down the river towards Norfolk some, and some of us in the HRPA will head up the river and hook up. We're still boatin in Va. Beach. . . . well, some of us.

Wild Horses 11-04-2002 07:24 AM

We still have Wild Horses in the water. Went out of a blast in Barrie on Saturday afternoon, everyone on the beach thought we were nuts.... we were. Middle of a snowstorm, 27 degrees, fog, blasting down the lake at 60mph with sled suites etc. on. I have pictures, however, they will have to wait until the film is developed.

Mate 229 11-04-2002 08:36 AM

hey there, mate229 -
hhhmmmm, 55 degrees huh?? from where I was sittin' felt like it was in the 20's!!!! but we were smilin' from ear to ear, weren't we!!! had a blast!!! 'specially when u finally got on it, (watchin' the old fuel gauge drain rite before our eyes!!! ). Gotta love that old "orange lite bridge" ... least when we hit there, lite's a-flashin - know we MAY HAVE just enuf to make it back to dock!
See ya there next weekend - hot - in the 60's - maybe can even flash!!!
dabeaktress!!!

Cignificant 11-04-2002 11:41 AM

Mate/Bill - I was thinking the same thing abut next weekend. I was even considering visiting the gin lady at Smithfield Station friday night and stay on the boat. Let me know your thoughts...

BillR 11-04-2002 01:19 PM

I would love to hook up at Smithfeild Station.
Not 100% sure about an overnighter, BUT will consider it.
I'll forward to rest of HRPA.

wms 11-04-2002 01:25 PM

I'm definitely game for a run to Smithfield. :)

I knew it was too early to stabilize the fuel. Glad I only used half the bottle.

Cignificant 11-04-2002 01:59 PM

Ditto, I'll send out a message to RPBA and see what happens. I have clearance from the wife to run solo, so watch out.

familyman 11-04-2002 02:18 PM

Mate 229,

Was that you I saw in the Fountain? I was in the Formula 280SS, if so I pasted you heading to the Benjamin Harrison bridge as I was heading up river from Hopewell. We pasted again when I was heading back to Hopewell and you were heading up stream.

I was going to turn around and run with you but I probably couldn't keep up with those 502's. Actually, I was heading for Dutch Gap because someone said they were going to put in, but didn't show. Plus I thought it would be a little warmer up river rather than down by Jordan Point.

OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cignificant 11-04-2002 07:56 PM

Diane, it makes getting there more fun!! Snow suit, down sleeping bag, and plenty of boat sodas - that's all it takes!

R Addiction 11-04-2002 10:00 PM

Boat Soda's....LMAO!!! I LIKE IT:D

wms 11-05-2002 06:38 AM

Not too cold Diane.....as long as it is in the 60's as they predict. Although, I will tell you that this is the time of year when that nice big windshield REALLY comes in handy!!

Cignificant 11-05-2002 03:02 PM

The email is quiet here in Richmond. The weather report is getting better and better. I even offered to let others ride with me, but I haven't gotten any takers yet.

Friday 11/8
Mostly sunny; beautiful in the afternoon
High 60 / RF 54. Low 43/ RF 43. Max. UV 2.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday 11/9
A good deal of sunshine
High 67 / RF 63. Low 49/ RF 48. Max. UV 2.

familyman 11-05-2002 06:22 PM

Hey, I didn't know it was offer to ride!

Saturday is still looking too busy with other obligations. You should some out Sunday we only had to stop every 10 minutes to warm up in the sun.

Mate 229 11-05-2002 06:54 PM

Hey Familyman that was us you saw last sunday. It was comfortable sitting still but got pretty chilly running. The cool weather does help the supercharger though. We'll have to hook up next time.
Steve, Saturday is looking like a good possibility for a run. I won't be overnighting but may take a run down river to meet up with some HRPB folks. I'm heading to Ft Myers in the morning but will be back Friday night. Maybe we should all meet down there!!

I've got two "maybe"s for Saturday. Bill, do all you still get together for Happy Hours on Fridays? I may still run down to Lynnhaven Friday and back to Richmond Saturday. I have the urge for one more of these...

BillR 11-06-2002 06:44 AM

Usually we gather at O' Learys on Fridays. Recently it has been kinda thin turn out, but if you come down, I'll send out the appropriate email and try to muster up some folks.
I'll be there for sure as will vyper340 (Dave) and maybe a few more.

wms 11-06-2002 06:46 AM

Getting aggressive are we Steve? Going to run all the way to our neck of the woods.....aaaahhh......creek? Cool! Let us know if you need a slip at Marina Shores.

Hey, the forecast for the weekend just continues to improve. What's up with the HRPA? Only BillR, Reckless and myself going to splash this weekend?

Cignificant 11-06-2002 07:59 AM

Unless the engines don't start, that's my plan. The heck with everyone else!! The weather's nice, and it's only 250 miles.

In case anyone needs to contact me my cell is 804-564-5314.

Is this the O'Learys you all meet at? If so I may need a ride over and back from Marina Shores. I plan on pulling in there before dark (4:30 - 5:00).

wms 11-06-2002 09:54 AM

Steve, that is the O'Learys at the Oceanfront. The one we go to is directly across Great Neck Road from Marina Shores. It is no more than a 5 minute walk from the docks!

Cignificant 11-06-2002 10:10 AM

Oh good. Stumbling distance. ;-)

BillR 11-06-2002 11:31 AM

Can't believe no one from your neck of the woods is going to let a 70 degree Saturday and a 75 degree Sunday go by with out boating.

BryanTuvell 11-06-2002 11:47 AM

I am still hinting for a ride!!!

Ice Pic's with WMS, looking to cool with Mr. Bill, loving life with the wreckless...

Or should I just ask steve to pick me up at Jordon Point and do JELLO with Ms's.....

I await data.... working on my liberty card.
Bryan

Cignificant 11-06-2002 12:26 PM

Bryan, you're free to ride with me. I'll be leaving Jordan @ noon Friday, returning by 4-5:00 Saturday. I'll be sleeping on the boat Friday night.

Sorry, I won't have the wife or Jellos...

BryanTuvell 11-06-2002 01:04 PM

OK, I can live without your great fun wife (slightly sad! LOL)....
Can she pack me a lunch of Jello's?
Or just send Lenny's wife instead!

I am considering this seriously, I spent the day on Ricks boat 2 weeks ago, one of the highlights of my year!

Let me work Nancy over some this evening.

Plus if your overnighting Rick lives accross the inlet, Patrisha surely would host us! And feed us breakfast!

Chime in Rick....
Bryan

Cignificant 11-06-2002 01:09 PM

Congratulations Rick! You just adopted two bouncing drunk guys! You da man!!

BryanTuvell 11-06-2002 02:46 PM

I just spoke to the famous Rick E.
He has been catching up on honey doooo (meeeee's)
and he is Liberty card capable for this weekend, his house or Smithfield with the Gin lady....

Don't make me reread the last 3 pages.

Steve you have the con, what is the plan....
Bryan

Cignificant 11-06-2002 02:57 PM

The only plans I have are:

1) Leave Richmond Friday by noon with plenty of eats, gas, and beverages;

2) Get back to Richmond Saturday by 5:00pm.

Other than that, I'm wide open for suggestions. But I would like to bounce around the Bay one more time this year.

Vyper340 11-06-2002 04:36 PM

Happy hour looks like a pretty good option BUT I will have to wait on the Saturday boating thing since I leave for Europe Sunday... and need to spend some time with the new toy; Scooter Jr.

Dave

Reckless32 11-06-2002 05:19 PM

Cig:
My thoughts exactly about running on the bay. I was planning on running to the cove over in the intercoastal for the day just to clean out the cylinders from all the setting the boat's been doin' lately.

Bryan thanks for the update earlier. I finally was able to set aside a few moments to surf the board and check out the latest. Tomorrow is my b-day so I'll have my game face on all weekend. May even talk the queen into a little gig or "two" at the house.

I'll be in Kitty Hawk on business tomorrow. We'll see everyone soon...:D

Macklin 11-06-2002 06:37 PM

Just logged on at home (got the computer downstairs now) to see what the latest was on our plans.....looking GOOD!!

Bryan, you are welcome to join us on Saturday if that works better. Ice Pics will be included....but no 'Cigarette'....!!

This is starting to look like a party....anybody else want to join in?

BryanTuvell 11-06-2002 06:45 PM

Steve I am there man!
We'll talk tomorrow.
I just emailed my group and announced my plan, which I am still unsure of big picture.

ROMP the bay.... or the Gin Lady....
I can sleep any where, Rick and Patricia has are back in VB, or the Gin Lady in Smithfield....

So what is the Macro plan?
Bryan

Macklin 11-06-2002 06:56 PM

I guess the Cigarette is more important than the ice pics??????? :(

BryanTuvell 11-06-2002 08:11 PM

That is too funny, Nancy and I was sitting here saying, "they both smoke, what is up with that!"
Guess my mind is also on drugs.... I just want to be in the fun with all my good friends, especially you two.....

I am Ready to board!
When would you and Diane be leaving?

Call ya tomorrow at lunch....

WHERE ARE WE OVERNIGHTING????
B
