Can anyone identify this boat?
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...df6b73c2db.jpg
Don't laugh. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...8dc290c030.jpg Humm,, somehow,, it's looking a little better. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...ae847c46bb.jpg Wait a min, which way is it going? A friend has this boat she inherited from her father recently. She doesn't know much abt it but says the top raises up and down. I believe she means the rear part goes up and pivots on the front somewhere. She's needs a ballpark estimate on it's worth. Structure and mechanical s are supposed to be in decent shape. Trailer not so much. Looks like it says "Voyageur" on the side. Searched for that but didn't find anything. Can anyone identify this beast? |
Sounds cool but worth what someone charges to haul it away. |
If you don’t have to pay to get rid of it I’d say you are doing well. |
A friend of mine (jokingly) always thought you could fix anything with at least a 525 or 700SC, an imco drive and tractor pipes....until I forwarded this on to him...
sad thing is, it's topside is more aerodynamic than Fountain's latest kilo boat |
Whoever owns it better get some carpet on those guide bunk on the 2x6 - only going to hurt the resale if it's all scratched up...Someone will buy it for the novelty... what does the interior look like?
|
Still looking for a boat :D
|
How the hell do you dock that thing?? Sure you can smack a dock with authority, but how do you reach a dock line??

Its only difficult to dock the first time. By the second use, you’ve figured out who wears their shoes aboard, brings Cheetos, bananas, etc. Then you simply fudge the departure times and those people are waiting at the dock when you return. Throw them a line and chalk up them missing the boating activities as miscommunication. Problem solved. |

It's a beaut! The family boatster towed behind the truckster. |
For some reason I am intrigued, anymore pics of the inside?
|
Interesting. Its a floating pop-up camper. Somebody will buy it, its basically pontoon boat.
|
No pics other than the ones I've already posted. It's abt 14 hrs away from me so not likely I'll ever see it in person. I asked her to look it over for a data plate or some kind of identification. Appears to be suitable for inland foul weather ops.

In the quartering bow shot on the trailer it is basically a flat bottom boat.... best suited to a mill pond or canal waterway.
Needs a transom sticker, " My other boat is an Apache!" |
Where is it?
|
It reminded me of this:

and the radio probably doesn't work
|
Maybe this guy needs a family boat:
|
Boat is in Iowa.
Seems like a lot of complex fabrication to be home made, but maybe. I've been looking around at "camper boats" and found some similar models but none had a top that lowered/raised. Makes me wonder if it was designed to fit into a garage. I'll ask her to take some pics of the inside and with the top raised. She's abt an hour away from the boat, so not sure when she'll be up there again. |
Well, I know all of you guys have all been biting at the bit for more info. Well, your ship has arrived (so to speak)...Received more pics today. May be the last pics until spring.
Appears the boat was manufactured by a company called Pleasure Industries out of Fort Dodge, Iowa. Had no luck finding any info on that outfit. Not even sure what decade they folded. Looks like a V-6 stuffed in the rear. Can't identify the drive but I don't have much experience with this vintage of equip. Turns out helm is closer to stern than I imagined which would make driving/docking even more interesting, but how bad can it be?? It's Coast Guard approved!! https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...2b27cf4e8e.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...a70c7888a3.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...70faf107a6.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...07e06b826a.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...73be5cff7c.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...6070b5847c.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...5930bacef9.jpg |
I'm not gonna lie I would rock the sh!t out of that thing...we have a river that is filled with pontoons and small runabouts...I would pack a couple cases of beer on that thing with the loudest stereo you have ever seen and drive it till it sank hahahaha but then again I like weird sh!t like this...I have the pontoon version of this thing no lie...look up lakes craft 1978 pontoon hahaha

mine is an I/O 4 cylinder omc but essentially the same...still gets looks from the guy with a brand new one with twin 400r's that cruises the river...and I didn't pay 100k for mine hahaha |
I dig it too.
I have the same thoughts on what I would do with it as BBYSTWY.....lol Im thinking a small diesel like a little kubota and just putt the thing around... |
That thing would be such a pain in the ass to drive, can you say blind spot?
|
Check out the propane tank. I think it's an ice fishing shanty. You drive it out there in October, drop anchor, and don't put it back on the trailer until May.
|
That seadek flooring is the bomb......:D......we'll call it the tadpole
|
Buy it!!! |
Cool boat!
|
^^^^^^^^^^ Let's go in halvesies Rob and rock that thing out on Clinton next summer! Old man has a couple big blocks laying around the garage in Mason City. I'm thinking tractor pipes for maximum "we've arrived and we're ready to party" effect!
|
Where at in Iowa??? I’m in Wisconsin. I’ll take it!!!!
|
I know what you guys mean. The goofy thing is starting to grow on me. I could see some solar panels on the roof to keep the stereo cranking all day long. Hell, you could probably run a trolling motor off the solar panels too and just putt around all day for pennies.
I believe it's near Iowa City. PM me if interested and I'll put you in touch with the owner. I wouldn't expect to get it for free but I know she's eager to get rid of it. |
wow that RV/boat is totally sweet. give it a little TLC and you can live on the water with that thing :boat:

Old Buick V6... isn't that some kind of OMC electric shift contraption?
I think a museum is missing some artifacts. |
