Default Merc 400RR

Hi!

I have a Phantom 25 (1985 model) with a Verado 400R. It runs 89 mph at 7,060 rpms with a Max5 prop. Next summer I will try Hills CNC cleaver.

As I have read Verado engines will be discontinued. The question is when the 400R will off the market, and the new V8 4,6 litre will take its place.

Any ideas? My warranty ends in 2022, so I should sell it before the season of 2021.

I could ofcourse buy a 450R and I will be in the upper 90ties. But the price is very stiff, approx USD 59,000.....

Thanks !

Cheeers, Toffen

Hi toffen , what I heared last week is that in europe you can only buy whats in stock here there wont be any new supply from the usa ,

As for the warranty after that you can always buy parts for a while so i would not be worried , I think the 450 is a lot more money for the extra 50 hp and probably there will be a 500 in the time your 400 warranty end .

regards

Bor

I would spend some money on a tune for the 400 before you swap it for a new V8 450. You can get the same HP or more than the 450. And I agree with what Bor said by the time you get your new V8 450, Mercury will release the 500.

sure you can bump the hp with a different tune, but the tq wont be there compared to the 450. I would caution against getting a tune on your 400 while its under warranty. merc can tell if the engine has been reflashed, in the event you blow it up, and they will not honor the warranty
