From Facebook:

We would like to let everyone know of the passing of my Dad, Orestes Matos. He passed early this morning surrounded by his family. It was a peaceful passing and he was ready to go. We take comfort in the memories we shared with him and remembering him how he was. Final arrangements are being made and we will let everyone know as soon as everything is set. Thank you for the kind words and condolences.

Yes that is what I also heard from Velocity, he has been in pretty rough shape for a while.

RIP

Never knew Russ except through his posting on OSO. In an often superficial world with a huge mix of people, he came across as a caring guy and a 'giver' not a taker. Sorry to lose an OSO member.

Sincere condolences to all those whose life he has touched.

I’m going to miss my friend. His heart was bigger than life. This man was the definition of generous. Never a bad word to say about anything, always wanting to help, always wanting everyone to smile and love. Our hearts and prayers go out to his entire family. This world just got little less tolerable without this man.

RIP my friend.

Always enjoyed his posts and liked how enthusiastic he was about the Toy for Tots run.
RIP Russ.
