man Tank that was a bad ass boat! I took a ride in that Skater to fuel it up and hit a 140 easy to the marina. It also ran in a couple of the Scope Poker runs we did back in 2005 I believe.

Yeah, the Hearbst family took really good care of that thing and re-did it super nice. I believe I saw it for sale again recently.

My buddy Jimmy Kirkland (Zero Patience on these boards) just text me this picture last week. It's a picture from a different vantage point than I've ever seen before from the race where Laith and Johhny went over the triple engine Shadow Cat. Amazing that nobody in the Shadow Cat was killed, especially since it took the guy on the starboard side's helmet off!

I just found these pics on Instagram of Sloppy Joes (formerly Katana, I believe). I'm guessing this was 46 hull #4 or #5? Hull #1 was Spirit of Norway, Hull #2 was Jaws, hull #3 was Recovery (now Freedom), and since the hull, deck, canopies and hatch scoops look the same as in the pictures I have of Recovery, I'm guessing Katana/Sloppy Joe's was a '94/'95, hull #4 or #5? Does anybody know what year/hull # Katana/Sloppy Joe's was?

They're Sterling, Big Chief 14 degree head 557s with the large "D" case PSIs on them. We've pulled the EFI off of them and are going back to carburetors during the complete rebuild process. These were not the same motors Freedom had in it when Jim traded it to Ron for Double Take. These motors were actually in Lickity Split for a while and ran a 172.

Skater 30 , J Lee ran 18 degree Big Chiefs and whats your thoughts on back to Carbs ?? seems the new craze is EFI

Mercury Racing's EFI systems are amazing, but my engine builders and I are not comfortable with the aftermarket EFI systems available for my PSI motors, that's why we went back to carburetors.

Boy your "Ruthless"!!

As for Ruthless You guys are correct it ended up in Sint Maarten and I was lucky enough to purchase it over the winter.
It will be restored to former glory as I love that paint job. Also going to convert to EFI Whipples should be a bad ride.

I took this picture back on 4/12/2005, before Ruthless left Skater. Does anyone know why US1 was painted on the boat?
