Default New Boater

Hello all,
I just joined offshoreonly and am a new boater. I grew up boating with my dad on a 23ft Hurricane deck boat, then a 25ft pontoon with a Merc 200. I looked long & hard for the right deal on my first boat - 15 years! (Not kidding). The time was right and I found a 1997 Formula 252ss with 7.4 liter MPI LX motor. It has 375 hours & I paid $16,500 for it. Any opinions on if I got a good deal, I would appreciate it. Also, is this boat too much for a first boat?

I can't comment on whether you got a good deal but I'll guarantee you get 16,000 dollars worth of enjoyment. At that price I'm not sure how you could go wrong. Go enjoy your boat!!!

Lake pal,
Thanks for your reply. Makes me feel even better about my choice. My fiance has three young nieces, and I think the u shaped seating will work out great for taking them out. I'll be using it on Lake Springfield IL, to begin with, then a few trips to Lake of the Ozarks as I get more experience.

Thanks smoke eater. I hear you can't go wrong with Formula, even the old ones.

I’m redoing a 89 272 Sr1. Something about these old birds I just love em. You’ll have years of fun to come. Couple of bumps in the road during those years but don’t be discouraged!!!

Also,
My boat has the dual prop bravo 3 outdrive. They say it makes it easier to dock & maneuver at low speeds. I hope this is the case! Lol.
