Second sentence. Damn. And you're one of the more-careful readers out there. :)

Which would do nothing but make sure it gets washed before delivered.

Why is that too bad? I didn't realize Cigarette was in business to market their boats to the middle class?

It's not exactly boating season in the Midwest so I am surprised this isn't going to the show. That said, there must be some amazing things that ARE going if this wasn't a necessary piece of the display.

We have specifically written in our contracts on new boats that they will not be displayed at any boat show. No way in hell would I ever allow this boat at the Miami show, I don't care what kind of discount Cigarette gave.

It’s too bad they won’t have it there. I remember when a “ Miami boat show” boat carried some clout .

The Miami Boat Show remains an important event, but there are two ways to approach it as a boat builder. You can go for the Cigarette-style, big-reveal on opening day and hope it wows the masses or you can "advance" the models you're bringing and hope that draws them to your exhibit. Given the tall access order the show has become with its move to Virginia Key five years ago, I tend to hold with the latter approach. Because you damn well better given people, especially buyers who are coming to see a model you've advanced, a concrete reason to go to all that trouble.

Unless you're at the show, the big-reveal approach likely doesn't mean much to you. You want to read about it and with the advent of real-time and close-to-real-time digital online media the patience of the average reader has thinned. Shorter version: Readers don't want information now. They want it yesterday.

So while Jason Johnson and I like surprises as much as the next guys, we'd rather let readers, especially qualified buyers, know what to expect and where to go to find exactly what they want to see, https://speedonthewater.com/in-the-n...iami-boat-show.

As for those who question the owner's decision to keep the new Cigarette 515 out of saltwater for five days, I would gently suggest that when you buy one the choice will be yours. :) Saltwater will not destroy a powerboat in a day. But saltwater exposure of any kind does not help resale value.
