Mercruiser 525SC Heat exchanger?
 

Has anyone ran a heat exchanger on a Merc 525SC? I just bought the motor and I'm looking at buying a heat exchanger and installing before the motor goes into my boat.

Cant find pictures of a closed cooled one on Google. Post pictures if you have a setup!

Park - I know you and I exchanged some emails when I was doing mine. What stats do you run and what temps do you see?

Nice and clean setup, id like to mount mine this way. Do you have a part # or name of the exchanger?

Seaford.....I don't run a stat....as I am supercharged....temp when running hard never goes over 120......there is no part number...I had it made by Lenco

Are you not running a Tstat just because you want to keep temps low for when you hammer on it and create alot of heat?

I found a 5x21" heat exchanger close to home for cheap. ($300ca) I believe it's from a stock 454 gen4 motor. I'm wondering if it will be okay with the higher horsepower blower motor. ( 525 )

Hello! Performance Product Technologies (PPT) offers different units from 600 to 900 hp. They are building a 700 hp exchanger for me. $1,320. It is designed to mount in front of the engine not on it. Hook-ups look very uncomplicated. It is not a kit but you shouldn't need any special shaped hoses. If you want to check it out, make sure you get into the high performance page, It can be tricky! Mr Cool also carry's them but the shipping was cheaper with PPT. They don't stock them so you will have a waiting period.

I don't run a stat...because yes when running hard you can create alot of heat..but I have a oil thermostat....to make sure oil is not to cool
