thanks -it still amazes me sometimes, it’s funny when you pass people in searays, first they turn around cuz they hear it, then they look down at their speedo/tach, then they look again as by that time we’re passing them.
In big water never have to lift just drive through it. Looking forward to seeing if Arneson’s pick up some speed.

Preaching to the choir brother. I always liked the looks of Pershing, Azimut, Sunseeker etc. And all turned out to be out of my price range. By chance I saw the Excalibur during my searches and that was it. Just found out the boat im interested in has zero hours on rebuilt motors and the outdrives are in crates. Heading out in a minute to do some recon. I really hope its not a basket case. But Im the type of guy who will buy a small project and turn it into a bigger project without looking at the big picture. Better than sitting at home fretting over toilet paper.

I would go with a 48 Fountain EC over a 45 Excalibur. Triple diesel, Arneson 60mph

no room in the engine compartment,,and wait till you need to replace the generator.:DI've worked on one before,,it sucked.and I'm not sure it ever ran 60mph.

I had a 47' for 10 years, sold it two years ago to someone in Oklahoma. Had the 496HO/Mag and Bravo 3 X Diesel drives (they were a direct bolt on and after replacing 4 drives the mercury rep told me that the diesel drive had a larger diameter drive shaft - which is what usually broke on mine). Boat was never bottom painted and topped out at 51. Normal cruise speed was 37-40 mph. Great boat, went up and down the Chesapeake Bay and Delaware Bay.

I noticed that looking at the ads. That engine compartment is tight.

They made a few twin engine boats that could still run 50.
