[QUOTE=Keith Atlanta;4732668]I think he is saying "pick your battles". I mean Chuck Norris is 80, aint nobody gonna fkuc with that chit.

QUOTE]

Wow..........I googled it, yep 1940 makes him 80.....I would have lost betting on his age!

Now I'm thinking, could I take Chuck Norris now? He'd still probably put together some moves and kick my ass!

Jupiter Sunsation 04-08-2020 05:03 PM

When I was 19 or 20, I was driving like an idiot......75 in a 30 type stuff. Blew past this house painter's residence.........big guy, known in town for his painting business. So he follows me home (or trailed my tail lights) and proceeds to berate me as I'm about to get back in the car (I forgot something, ran the house then back out to the car). He says something like I ought to beat your aszz for driving like that down my street. He is easily 4-5 inches taller and 60-70 lbs heavier and I response was something stupid like yeah right old man (he was probably 45-50). Nothing happens, but I don't drive down his street like that ever again either.

Kid I graduated from school with is telling me about his karate class, his latest accomplishment........and mentions his karate instructor was the painter guy! Decent military career, then full time training and the painting gig was just his side business! I told him what a knucklehead I was and he laughed and said that guy could have knocked me out with one hit/kick. Dodged a bullet there........:D

The problem is a lot of people think they`re still on the internet behind a keyboard. The real world is a bit different.

And in the real world, actions have consequences and assault is assault. If these brats are guilty of the crime they've allegedly committed, they deserve whatever legally prescribed penalty comes their way.

Their actions, again if proven true (due process is a must) are indefensible. And if they happened to be on high-performance cats or V-bottoms, guess what? The whole performance-boating community gets hit with a bat, so to speak.

Who knows what the real story is, some of it doesnt make sense.
The daughter stayed behind while the dad took of to the hospital? If that was my dad I for sure would be going with him.
"The woman didn’t know how many assailants hit her and her father."
She had one lump on her head so wouldn`t it be one?
Story says "bats"
How many boaters carry bats onboard?

There`s the news story and then there`s the truth, the 2 are usually very far apart.

Most of the time it’s better to (as Keith pointed out above) take the higher road, shake your head and move on (and that goes for all involved - loud music and you don’t agree about someone’s “social distancing”? Move along...angry dude and his daughter telling you to turn down the music and social distance, um ok. Whatever). But it seems now days entitlement and anger rules so many. And I will say if there’s one thing I’ve learned throughout my career is this - people HATE being told what to do or that they are wrong. And most of the time it will absolutely insight rage.

That's right. It's always best to let the police handle those situations. That's what your tax money is for. As a citizen, you don't want to confront them, and never let on who called. Keep your distance. I just assume people who cause trouble are narcissistic, and I will never be able to reason with them. The police are much better equipped to handle these situations, especially if it escalates. They have pepper spray, tasers, guns, bullet proof vests, backup, jails, training.

Let the police handle it.

It is a weird story, I'll grant you that. But promoting frontier justice at any level is dangerous.

Someone earlier used the world "entitled" in regard to the man and his daughter. Who has the greater sense of entitlement, the guy who thinks he should lecture 20-somethings on social distancing, or the 20-somethings who don't want their party disturbed and respond with violence?

In your first post, you took the story at face value—or a least seemed to if you reread what you wrote. Now you're questioning the veracity of the story. (Any narrative that runs counter to preconceived notions of a given reader these days seems to get that treatment.) So be it. The facts will come out in court.

And that is exactly my point. We have a legal system. The penalty for being a whiny human is not getting assaulted. Is it a possible consequence from the violent and thin-skinned? Sure.

But blaming the victim is insanity. The "he had it coming defense" often works in a person's head. Prisons are full of such legal scholars.

Speaking of Key West...place is a ghost town. You’d usually see 100’s of people enjoying the weather and sites. Eery. Spoke with some friends that live there and work the bars. They’re getting by but ready for things to open again and get back to it.

Well after reading all these posts......and seeing I turned 71 this year, I guess I just better keep my head down and say yes sir to anyone who speaks or looks at me. I didn't realize I was so old and feeble and inches away from the grave. Maybe I should bring the boat down to Eddie Young and have him put a govenor on the engine so it won't do more the 30mph. CRAP

71... You should be at 25mph, not 30. Eddie had his work cut out for him. :p

Last time I took a boat ride on Lake Erie I watched a chunk of acrylic windshield fly over my head. Mean, evil water. :)
