Default Verado 5000 rpm limit

Looking to purchase a 2001 Concept 36 with twin 250 Verados..
during the sea trial we couldn’t get rpms above 5000.
mechanical inspection showed zero hours above 5499 rpms on motors with 760 total hours.
is this Just a prop issue? Something bigger??

thanks in advance

What size props? Might need to scan for errors. Sometimes if an error is present it will limit the available power.

Who did the mechanical inspection ?

Will add. A good trained marine tech could figure this out from 15 mins to 3 hours doing a real mechanical inspection with the proper tools why the boat can not reach MAX recommended rpms. I would hire a Verado trained tech and see what he finds

Might be slightly over propped. I'm running 24P on my 30 w/300's. That still wouldn't explain the history with nothing above 5499.

I'm with Dave M on over propped. I had twin 300s on my 34 NT with 21P Rev 4s and it could turn them fine. The rev 4s are slightly smaller in diameter than the bravos. Swapped to 400s a few years ago and running 22P Bravo 1s. 400s can turn them, there is no way the 300s would have been able to turn the 22Ps to the proper rpm, at least not on the set up on my NT. We even raised the engines one hole with the 400s to get the set up correct.
