If I ever get a Nor-Tech 45, Ill for sure get the 2nd row but so far there are very few 45's with it. There looks to be less space between the rear seat and 2nd bolster on a 45 compared to the 39. On the 39, you are able to slide the cooler all the way out (and use as another seat if desired). On the 45, you have to hinge the second bolster forward to access the cooler or to use it for a seat, so you cant use the bolster seats and cooler as a seat at the same time.
In my head with a large CC with 2nd bolster but still plenty of lounging area to be honest the first thought came in my head was the MTI 42v. I do like and enjoy that layout but again now we are in a bigger and wider boat than the original post was looking at. |
My friend built the 34 with the second row of seats. It’s very cramped and you lose the cooler. I do not have the second row seats or extended top in my 39. It usually just the wife and I and two kids so we don’t run hard in the rough and I appreciate the extra room when we are at the beach or just lounging out. My wife’s seat of choice is on the cooler facing backwards (not sure why). Now if NT offered that custom seat in the pictures above I would have gotten that in a heartbeat.
Also I’m almost positive Trond told me the extra 5’ on the 39 is 2.5’ in front of the lounge seat and 2.5’ behind the helm seat. |

I'm not 100% sure where the entire 5 feet of space is gained on the 390 vs 340. I know some is the bow, but I imagine some is aft of the helm. The second row might be pretty cramped in a 34. I LOVE the second row on our 390, along with the extended hard top. Are you meaning having 3 rows of bolsters on a 39?

I was referring to adding a 2nd row of bolster to a 390 that currently only has one row. Has anyone considered that or actually done it?
Those 34/39NT models are pretty sweet. |

Cigarette doesn't make anything under 39 feet. Great boats but I thought he wanted something smaller.
Don't over look Intrepid Boats. They have a really nice 37 Upon delivery the seakeeper didn't work and if you used the trim tabs the outer motors would bog down off idle. Needless to say he wasn't thrilled after writing the check, taking delivery of a boat with issues. This was his 2nd Intrepid and is a long time Viking owner (Intrepid is the tender). |

Second row bolster is a must. I would not buy a CC without that option. When we are running 50 mph plus I want my crew looking forward so there is no surprise when we hit a big wave.

Nice boat do you have a wider pic of it

We modded our 340 NT by replacing the cooler with a rear facing seat with an electric footrest. It seems to be the favorite seat for the girls while we are underway ever since it was put in. 4 bolsters are nice, but this has worked out well also.
