Default Mystery boat

Can anyone tell me about this boat? It’s an 88 on the title and says it’s a cigarette. 28’ don’t know anything else. The hin numbers don’t make any sense what so ever

What are the first letters of the HIN?
It does have the lines of a 28SS but there are a few differences....the "splash rail" just under the rub rail sticks out farther on the 28SS then on this boat and its not a "thick" as this one. And the rear deck on the 28SS doesn't go all the way out to the edge.
This one could be newer/updated as i'm only familiar with the older ones (late 70's)
This could be a splash of the cig done by someone else and someone decided to put a cig logo on it....
here are a few pics of my friends cig during/after resto

The HIN starting with NJZ is for a state issued number from New Jerzey.....could have been a home made boat, or a police/drug seizure etc.....either way unless someone knows the story behind it i don't know if you'll ever get the full story on it.

I was worried about that. I didn’t realize someone could make a boat like this homemade.

I highly doubt that was a true home made boat unless someone had a friend that was very good at glass work and had access to some molds. This was more likely a boat that was probably recovered by the cops after being stolen and the HIN was removed and New Jerzey issued a generic HIN number to sell it at auction at some point.

It has decient lines and if the hull is solid and the price is right for you then i say run it! Just be aware when it comes time to sell it may get lots of questions...
