Key West is OPEN!
Just checked all the webcams. Irish Kevins, Sloppy Joes, Ricks, Hogs Breath, Smokin' Tuna, Pier Bar, etc. all open with people enjoying themselves. Theres people in the pool at 24 N. Hotel too.
No races in November? Sucks but we're booked and ready to roll. Looking forward to seeing all the poker runners down there. |
We will be there too....have a room at the Crowne with the roof top pool
I know this sounds bad. however i am looking forward to the parties, boating, and all without the races. |

We're still planning to go.
|
I’ve always said most people that fo to Key West in November use the boat races as an excuse, We had boat races in Michigan city a hour away from my house and never went to them, but yet I get on a plane go to Key West for the boat races, lol
We will be there again this year no different than any other year and I don’t think not having boat races will change the mood at all, boat races have been lame the last 5-6years anyways |
What are the dates that everyone is coming down?
|
Most of my crew will be down from Nov 8. We fly in on Nov 11.

I still avoid places with large crowds, no Vegas/Key West type places. I don't feel it would kill me but I don't like the stories of people getting blood clots/strokes/organ damage. Key West has never been a particularly "clean" place even without something like Covid.
|
I was at Marathon a couple of weeks ago. If you stepped out of your room, you were required to wear a mask. Sucked balls. I hope the restrictions are lifting before then
|
Still set to go. And agree the poker runners will make it "seem" normal.
Was searching a little this evening and came across this: list of updates The Sept 11th one about 50% and seated service kind of scares me. I don't want to have to be seated. I've never really sat in any of the bars anyways, never really an open seat in the popular places. The other ones just stood and BS'd. Hope bands are playing also. |
Be safe all...don’t get complacent folks. Hate to hear about people getting ill because of having a “screw it” mentality. Now is not the time to be letting our guards down. Have fun and make smart choices.
cheers🍺🍺🍺 |
There are still a boatload(LOL) of restrictions in place. Maybe they will rollback more before then but it's not looking like a "fun" time.
And the PR may be on but I don't think there are any parties/dinners or Poker Run village to hangout or just see. |
Wife got cold feet months ago and bailed on this year. Guess it gives the liver and wallet a bit of a break this fall. Will be really ready to go next year! As for the races themselves I enjoy Wed, Fri, Sun hanging out on the mole. Made some friends out there and never bored regardless of action on course.
|
We booked flights and an AirBNB for super cheap during the start of pandemic thinking everything would be reopened by now. We're still planning being there the 8th-15th. Hopefully there is still plenty for us to do down there since we'll be boatless.

i was in Vegas in July, still kicking, why not add K.W to the list to go to as well. That is after we get back from Austin in Oct. :D |
We were planning to go as well, but backed out as well. On the positive side, the savings from canceling Key West is allowing me to race the Daytona Roval next month.

No more public mandated public mask rule in KW. It was lifted last week.
every bar you can see on the webcams are open. Talked to a couple friends down there and they say they are opened up and serving and people are returning. bands are playing at all the bars. We enjoy key west any time. Offshore boats are just a plus to the scenery and environment. Actually might for once in 15 years do some touristy stuff like go over to the fort or rent a seadoo and go through the mangroves. But either way 99.97% recovery rate from the scamdemic? I think we can play the odds and things will be ok. |

:musik010:...clearly that is not even a concern to them .........be safe all......:boat: |
I'm not worried about the disease. I'm not sure I want to wear a mask in every restaurant and bar I go to. And with no clear idea on things to do it's still a 50/50 good time or s#it time. I can go to KW any day of the year. When it's worth going. Not convinced on this year and I'm willing to eat my $3800 in room and slip fees for 2020 just to maintain my reservations for 2021.

We were sitting at the bar 7-8 feet from us and anyone else, not like it was busy on a Monday night. Outside, big time wind and they said we had to put our mask on after every drink,,,,,,,,,,,, We had one and moved down the beach to another outside place. |
Looks like we are headed down there 10th.

Just checked a bunch of web cams. All the distancing signs and mask signs hung all over the bars are all removed. people sitting, standing, hanging out an all the big bars and restaurants with no masks, like normal, enjoying themselves. It's almost like a weight lifted to see things normal for the first time in 7 months!!!

I know it's crazy, but with the restrictions lifted in Florida, I wonder how impossible it would be for RWO to put something together  :grinser010:
Seen crazier stuff happen. |
