Instead of General Discussion , Change it to Matt Trulio articles.

I disagree, look at the dates on the original postings and you will notice 2014, 2018........people are bringing Matt's posts back to the top.

Matt is bringing content to a place that badly needs it. I don't care about racing but plenty of people here do so Matt did a story on that recently. TNT is redoing an Apache and a 50 Cig, that is cool and I was glad to see the pics/read the story. Do you think Johnny T is going to log on to talk about a couple boat redos? New builds are nice to see, especially if it is a new model or if an existing member gets a new ride. The WMF Cig story was great though I don't believe for a second that WMF will not improve that 42X sooner or later. :D

Researched content from someone using complete sentences is good.

That boat is so pretty. Just gorgeous.

Pete B 09-21-2020 08:09 PM

Just like anything else if you don't like it don't look! Speed on the Water brings a lot to the table, from the industry side that you may never hear about.

The first owner left it stored on a lift next to a busy overpass (US1 Boca Raton) and I thought for sure it was going to get sun beaten/worn. Glad that first owner sold it to the guy before WMF!

Phil still has it on his website as the opening background, yeah its good looking for sure.

tmmii 09-21-2020 08:51 PM

Didn’t IB take the speed on the water articles down from the home page back in the beginning of covid expecting a big slow down?

98% of mine have no replies, and I like Matt put up new material everyday. If you don't like it its very simple don't look, there are plenty of threads that I don't read, and Ive been on this page from the very start.

Padraig 09-22-2020 07:25 AM

I look at all Speed on the Water, if it is something I am not interested in I simply hit the back button, no problem and takes little time. SOTW delivers a lot of info. As far as Pete's photo...I look at all of them, specially on Tuesday. LOL

Skater30 09-22-2020 07:39 AM

Wow, this thread is a huge surprise to me! Matt (and Pete's) constant contributions to this site are 90% of the reason I visit this site on a regular basis. Of all the stuff to complain about being posted on this site, Matt's informative and knowledgeable contributions about the industry are the last posts I would think someone would ***** about.

F-2 Speedy 09-22-2020 08:14 AM

I think Dan was off his meds when posting this..........:D

noli 09-22-2020 09:24 AM

.

I think that if you disagree with Matt's content you're free to voice your opinion, that's what OSO is about, but on the flip side I don't think Matt and his crew get enough recognition for the content that they provide in OSO

thus, click the "like" button if you like and are entertained with their content or disagree with the content and write a reason why you disagree, but I think the content is solid and very informative and entertaining for me

I thought if there was anyone here on OSO it would be me who post content that are far off the extremes  muhahaha

Well said statement. I like the posts that you and Matt or anyone else from Speed on the Water posts here. Just because they have no comments doesn't mean that people do not like seeing and reading them. By the way Pete B, your team got some great footage at LOTO this past weekend and Jeff Helmkamp nailed the money shot of Remedy in his pics. Thanks again for what you guys do!!!

ICDEDPPL 09-22-2020 11:30 AM

Well is it General Discussion or Matts column? Maybe there should be a different section so it`s not clogging up this one.
Either way I guess I can just waddle thru it ,, I didn`t know I could scroll past so I appreciate that advice.

Clearly, based on this thread on and some of your prior comments, you have some kind of personal issue with me. Or you're just angry in general as a lot of your comments indicate. Either way, I don't much care. I don't do my job to be loved.

If the OSO community want us to stop sharing our content on this page, we will. The referral traffic we get from it is negligible. Jason Johnson and I think of it as a courtesy.

But if the community wants us gone, we're gone. You guys decide and we'll respect your decision without any animosity.

Matt & Jason, there is nothing to decide. The OSO community wants you guys here.

The SOTW postings are ALWAYS welcome on OSO. It is always great to see what is going on the boating world and marine industry.
I also like the fact that you post the article links here. It saves me from having to swap between different social media platforms and sites.

I guess ICD should learn he can read what he wants and skip what he doesn't want to read.

Well said. It's the key to the success of ANY forum. I'm on several car, boat, and motorcycle forums and often times one will see this same thing happen, i.e. a disgruntled member or three that just happen to be very vocal, when the far majority are content/happy with the threads and posts. There are dozens of threads that may not interest me but you know what? I just don't read them. No sense it getting all panty-twisted, life is too short.

Marginmn 09-22-2020 12:49 PM

I vote to keep the articles coming.

I’m pro-Matt/Jason. Keep up the good work!

waterplay 09-22-2020 01:12 PM

Matt, Jason,

Keep up the great work! I enjoy reading every article (some more than others). Not that I have any say in the matter but… IMHO, I am ok with it in General or having its own SOTW column. OSO does have a whole section for the Multi Media. Regardless of where it is located, I will still click on it and read what is going on.

Thanks again Matt and Jason.
Your value to OSO may be understated but you are a great asset to others here.

ttuton 09-22-2020 02:57 PM

Definitely keep the articles coming!

I can call Jason and Matt my friends, and still be objective.

They bring value to this forum and to the community. OSO/IB discontinued the paid relationship with SOTW but certainly welcome any content. And don't be surprised to see the SOTW articles back on a revamped NEWS page here in the future. 2020 has put a full-blown wrench into any and everything we think is normal. Hopefully 2021 will be a return to doing what we need, and come here for.

hogie roll 09-22-2020 06:44 PM

I’d like to see more content on older boats and repowers etc. Tests would be cool too.

Im not particularly interested in the latest million dollar cig or skater with merc turbo power just like the rest.

badmonkey 09-22-2020 07:20 PM

Let’s be real...great articles yes....articles about the normal folks be able to relate too...not so much. If the masses can afford all these high dollar boats good for you all. Frankly I can not and the articles are a bit unrealistic...for at least us simple folk.

appreciate the insight and well written articles but as mentioned don’t think this is actually relative to the norm of population....just my .02.

thanks

We do publish a lot of project stories, https://www.speedonthewater.com/category/projects/, but we could do more. As I told another reader, they're a bit more labor-intensive and time-consuming so they are fewer and farther between relative to other pieces such as news, event coverage, new-model releases/builds and so on. More project stories remain a goal, and always will. Thanks for the input.

Zach F100 09-22-2020 08:27 PM

My only problem with Matt is his correct use of commas. Anything posted in forum type format should be run on sentences only.

1MOSES1 09-22-2020 08:33 PM

I think the number of articles have become pronounced due to the lack of general traffic on the forums.

much like everyone else, I read thru the articles of interest and skip others. Don’t see any harm in keeping them on...

Eddienel 09-22-2020 09:13 PM

No one is forcing me to read them. I read them when I want and skip them when I dont feel like it. I do like having the option to read them. Keep them coming. Variety is the spice of life. I love boats. Doesn't matter if its a go fast or dingy. I like reading about all of them. I also like sailing and trawlers for some reason have caught my eye. Anyway post whatever floats your boat. I may read it or I may not...

I enjoy his contributions. Thanks to him for the effort.

I like the additional content, the site has slowed down and I appreciate anything related to the offshore boating lifestyle.

TxHawk 09-23-2020 06:08 AM

This thread is 1 of 9 that had replies in the General Discussion yesterday... The forum is just slow.

klaatutooyou 09-23-2020 03:46 PM

It does seem to be over run from the california media . but so is tv and newspapers,

Besides can you blame them for this type of advertising?
OSO to them is like a sign on the flat iron bldg in times square.

thirdchildhood 09-24-2020 06:46 AM

I click on a lot of Matt's and Jason's stories and I pass over many of them. This thread is an insult to valuable contributing members and IMO this thread should be deleted. I respect a lot of the OP's opinions but maybe he was having a bad day when he posted this.
