Old boat magazines....

Been wanting to do this for yrs.

Now that our phones are cameras so I don’t have to scan/upload and I’m old enough to not care that they’re just pixs of magazine pages.

No particular order other than how they came out of the box from the basement.

Couple of points:

The first pixs are of the pages of the “Boat show” issues of the mags my dad kept and gave me from the day.
I liked them a lot because they gave you basic info but on almost everything.

John Crouses article about Don Aronow was written two months after his death.

Tom Gentry listed as a “rookie”.

Chrysler when they still made marine engines.

The different drives of the day.

What used to be “big” power.

I really like the classifieds from the day.

I've got boxes of these around too. I also miss Powerboat and especially Hot Boat.

These pixs pics are from both of those plus others.

I almost cried when I lost half of them in a flooded basement 30 yrs ago!

I had a huge collection of all the Aussie stuff and a few American publications that made it to Australia. Downsized from a house to a condo and trashed half of it. Later moved overseas and dumped some more, leaving some in storage at Dad's house. Dad passed away so when I went back to Aus briefly I dumped the rest.

Big mistakes, should have found a way to keep the whole lot.

Hang on to them forever and when you're gone (about 100 years from now :)) if someone chooses to trash them all, it won't be you.

A sweet reminder of how much I enjoyed getting my monthly Powerboat subscription in the mail .
Even if it happened to be an edition without any boats that I really took to I never failed to get a kick out of the editors and contributors columns. Especially Dick DeBartolo.
Remember the article he did about how they accidentally put a 24 Nova with jet drives 100' up on an island in the Hudson without getting a scratch on it ?
Do you have the copy with the legendary test of the Four Winns that scared the crap out of Bob Nordskog ?

I was a huge fan of Nordskog and his accomplishments but..., I have a friend that worked for Hydrostream when he/PB tested one and he labeled it as dangerous and their heads exploded!
He didn’t how to fly a light OB vee bottom!
