That was 2016 and haven't seen much since. The wild part about those is the Merc DOHC heads on an LS short block. Either way, (Standard head or DOHC) It would sure be cool to have a marinized big inch LS with a warranty!
That said, I recently took part in the installation of a 450HP Marine Power LS3 into an older Ski Centurion and it went fairly easily, aside from missing the fuel pressure sender and having to call MP to figure that out. I bought the engine originally thinking I would offer an accessory kit for the guys wanting to provide their own LS but never got around to it and sold the engine to a buddy.

turbos are the future. Look at the big merc engines. If you eliminate the blowers parasitic hp loss you make more usable hp and much better fuel mileage and turbos are cheap to rebuild.
the merc 600sci is 38-39k dollars. And the heads need to be done at 300 hours more or less. The air boat guys are getting 1500 hours out of a topend and 3000 hours out of a bottom end. Also I think air boats load the motor like marine use would.
i think an LS single turbo to 600 hp and twin turbos to 800 would put a huge dent in mercs engine sales in that hp range.
these things should be incentive for someone to develop and sell either full ready to install engines or at least a turbo kit which I like the idea of doing

Yes. Engine is installed and running. Prop is too small at the moment so it will bang the limiter pretty easily. I think its only had a handful of hours since install but seems to be running well. Had to use a Corvette regulator but bolt in otherwise. DTS so the electronic shifter had to be added also. Boat is a 2000, Engine is a 2014.. & no mufflers!

This thing isn't a turbo but is a SC'd LT4 (600 Hp/ 608 torque) and takes a beating so the concept of turbo's is valid for consumer longevity (just not as compact for a towboat engine compartment), especially if you see how tow boats are beaten on for the sake of "FUN" (as merciless as a rental)
