They are built in Orlando and are shipping them to Europe. Those people have no choice. They were pushed 20 years ago the same way we are being pushed today.

If it’s wide enough for six big outboards they should have put a pair of hi po diesels in it. Imo

I am from EU and hear this first time. Only in few small lakes we have no chance, must be electric drive, but normally it is the same like in other world.
Technology for 1500 kwh storage in accu small enough to fit in 35 ft fast boat will not be available at least one decade, probably much longer and less energy storage is usseles for ocean boating.

The real choice it is betwen gassoline, diesel, alcohol and hydrogen. Forget electric, this is politicall fuel and far from ecologycally solution!
From where electric come and what is total efficiency of powerplant?

If only we could break down water to an explosive mix of hydrogen and oxygen. But then again, would we really want to permanently deplete our water ....

Did Volvo want to have an outboard in their lineup? I can't imagine what possible scenario they had in mind that would make that acquisition profitable.

Since Seven Marine went through the expense/engineering of marinizing a LSx and all it's associated controls/electrics, maybe it would be an easier path to convert them to I/O's? If gear cases were blowing up maybe the power/weight is more aligned with a stern drive application.

I doubt even Mercury is selling very many stern drive power packages now , they( Volvo) took a swing at it back when the market was hot, no need to try it again now when it isn’t

I think one reason mercury doesn't sell much stern drive is they have not put any real R&D into it. They have decided to focus on the Outboard market.

There I/O stuff is all pretty old tech really, old converted auto based motors and not even using the latest of those. (The OHC motors being a exception, 860-1500HP).
