Anchors
Just saw this interesting take on anchors. Thought I would share.
|
To much angle not enough slope
Would like to see it tried again with about 20 more feet (chain or line) to the truck |
Here ya go. I was just looking at anchors and came across the M1 Mantus. So far Im really liking it.

Box Anchor, never failed me.

You sell the Mantus?
That was a pure BS vid. All the anchors show it with the chain at an up angle and not laying on the floor. Show it sliding along with no knowledge of how much power is being applied. Then we get a few seconds of the Mantus close up and the vid stops leaving only the impression it dug in All depends on what you boat in. Need plow or danforth for sand, mud and loose rock. Bruce/claw is great for hard bottoms where it can garb a rock or stump. |
No not at all. Ill have to watch the video again. I was just looking for a replacement for my danforth anchor. Most of the time it doesn't set unless Im in the water placing the flukes down or I have to drag it 20ft or more to set.

Do you just throw it out and done? My dad for the life of him cannot anchor a boat. I’ve added chain, I’ve told him to add more line, it just doesn’t sink in. His boat all year he goes to a cove and just moves around with his anchor. I took the boat out once with a couple strippers, and anchored at the beach with all the Wales coming and didn’t have an issue. I’m ready to give him a 5 gallon bucket full of concrete for Christmas.
https://www.slideanchor.com/boxanchor You could probably do a search too, something will probably come up. |
I anchor at a certain sandbar that has a lot of boat waves and wind. Boat was constantly moving. My Danforth couldn't cut it. Bought a Mantus and problem solved. It works incredibly.
