Through-Hull Transducer Mounting

99 Donzi 33zx-- looking to mount a P79 through hull transducer. Hoping someone has found a good mounting spot.
Thanks to the search function--I know it needs to be forward of the steps and glass only ie no coring but am struggling to find an "easy" spot.
Any OSO'rs done this before?

I tried on my 99 26zx without success under the cabin steps via the access hole. I think there was too much coring in the bottom of the hull. I just use the factory depth finder at slow speed on the transom and then my GPS plotter at speed.

Good gouge--thanks for the reply!
I found a spot that's a little farther forward than I'd like but it "looks" like I can see the boundaries of coring too ... we'll see -- thanks again

Forward isn't a bad thing as long as it's a wetted surface when running. Mine was a few inches forward of the step in my 37AT and it would read almost all the time when running, except rough water.
When you are inching up to beach the boat is when/where I like having the puck mounted as far forward as possible. Just know how much deeper in the water your outdrives are, but also that they are 10+ feet further back.
