Question for Tank
Tank how far back is your cavitation plates mounted on your drives?
|
Here’s a few pics. I don’t know exactly but looks like a couple inches. I can get more pics or a measurement next weekend if you need.

Thank you the first picture is good that is all I need again Thank you. I hope they work as good for me as they did for you.

They really work fantastic on the cafe. Night and day difference. Lotta bang for the buck.

You have probably said somewhere, but exactly how do they help? Better ride? Faster time to plane? they look great!
I dont need to use any tab to plane. Don’t need to run the boat with any tab at all. Kick the drives out a bit and run it. Zero porpoise. Stays on plane easier at low speed as well. Things are pretty awesome. |
Tank, did you have any cavitation / blow out issues before hand? Its something I'm fighting with my 28' Pantera (notched transom), especially while on plane and trying to add a bit of positive trim. Have been playing with props and drive height thus far, but this may be a viable option as well.
|
Cooper I have a 28 Pantera,so I’ll let you know how they work for me.
|
Craney, are you running a single or twins? Im a single engine 28, but regardless, Im curious to hear how it goes!
|
Twins with Trs drives.

Can someone explain why and how these work. If the X dimension is 0-2" will it work? I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this with such great results. It sounds like the golden mouse trap many have been looking for.
|
In all likelihood they probably made it much easier to determine correct trim whereas before the trim tabs kind of got in the way and would cover up incorrect trim and there was not enough wing on the back of the drives to create the lift needed for a big straight bottom boat. I bet it decreases fuel consumption quite a bit too.

In the Cig section when I first brought them up, a couple of the guys called Max Machine Worx in Havasu (where we got them) to see if they made them for 3 and 3a's...They don't. Only Bravo type drives. But I'm sure they could be fab'd pretty easily. Max Machine Worx Power Boat Drives | Poker Run Boat Drives | Billet Lower End Performance Outdrives Lake Havasu Desert Storm Here's a video River Dave did on them, kind've product review and talks about the design and benefits. |
I got my cavitation plates on can’t wait to try them to see if any difference. I would think they would work on a #3 drive I have them on Trs drives.
