Default Anodizing Transom assembly

Have my #5 assembly disassembled .

I have supply in shop to do alodine and paint .

I am going to have parts stripped with Walnut most likely although I do have a lead on dustless blasting.

Would anodize interfere with bearings and seal tolerance ? and has anyone ever had this done .

Was thinking of having tab assemblies done as well.

I would mask the critical fits like bearings

Hopefully shop doing it knows that...
Any threaded holes, reamed holes, or bearing surfaces need to be coated with a stop off agent.
It does add a small amount of material.
Hard coat does add an incredible corrosion barrier, but I have never heard of any transom assemblies, drives, or tabs being coated before.
Not sure if there is a reason for that...
The coating is hard too.
Variety of colors available from some sources.

You would need to polish the aluminum before anodizing for best results. Anodizing a blasted surface doesn't look all that great unless you go hard coat or black.

Merc has their Sea Core option on Bravos which I was told, when I bought my new drives, was a hard anodizing process before the final fimish that gave the extended warranty even in salt. Can not speak to their process but the extra warranty was a bonus.

As you can see in the last picture the candy really pops with light. All these parts are boxed and ready to go.

Did that on the engine accessories. All was new and was not really happy with the outcome. I wound up painting everything a candy gold.

Was really for corrosion factor, since it is all disassembled and in good shape.. The tabs are powder coat and finish is dull . Figure I can get everything cleaned at once and what would be the best route to go. Looking for input cause sometimes I tend to over think some process.

The 3 Teauge pump tanks are 2 piece and the anodize didn't hinder the bolts going in , but that was just gold anodize and not HC. When I painted them I had assembled and just taped the allen bolts.

The flame arrestor, battery trays I just stripped and painted ,manifolds are new /painted as well as sea strainer.

That paint does really look good! What I was saying was not to leave them polished, but they would need polished to get good results when anodizing. If you just blast the parts and anodize, it will not look great, like you think of when you think anodized. If you go with black or HC then polishing after blasting doesn't matter as much, although it will produce better results. The part will look the same as it went into anodizing when it comes out, only the color changes. To get shiny anodizing, you gotta start with shiny parts.
