My RXT-X's do 70ish before the governor kicks in. I agree with the poster said it will only do that in absolute glass. As soon as there's even the smallest "waves" (more like ripples), the grate is coming out of the water too often to get it going that fast and you're stuck at 62-65. If there's actual "waves" as in 1+ foot chop, I'm just launching off every wave, on and off the throttle, usually max of 40-45 and it's not exactly comfortable, even with the active suspension.
That said, they're an absolute blast. Not by any means a replacement for a boat, but great to have alongside them. A pair sits on floating docks next to my Cig on the lift and the Cat sits in the hangar waiting for poker runs. |
Never been passed by one but there’s not many around on the lakes we boat on.
Yea they got a bad rap from being so loud back in the day but the real issue is operators not really knowing what they’re doing nowadays. Grew up on a 900ac lake that was “up north” for a lot of southerners. They show up and jump on them, let all the aunts and uncles run them etc. One of the biggest issues is the loss of steering when you let off the throttle. People freak out and of course release the throttle and have the handle bars cranked over but aren’t turning at all! Duh! My dad took me tubing on Sunday afternoon, which we should’ve known better being locals on the lake, and I ended up on top of a guy and his jet ski still in the tube because he was screwing around, got in front of us and couldn’t turn out of the way after letting go of the gas. Dan has got it figured out from his pic! Once prices come down I’d love to find a pair. |

There are no speed limits on Lake Washington. These skis go past my house at least at 100 MPH in the middle of the day. With gas on the lake at $5.24/gal. Their trips must be pretty short.
|
Any new ski max speed 65mph.
Gets there incredibly fast thou |
I could not believe them running at Cocoa Beach races this year, they were going pretty good in ROUGH water, for like a 1/2 hour.
I bet there were some sore people the next day.

Rode a buddy's brand new 2020 1500cc SXR (a 160hp 4-cyl in a STAND UP ski!) while in St Petersburg a couple of weeks ago and its insane how quick the new skis are. The website says it will do 62 and I believe it...

Yup all the time while cruising with a bunch of bikini clad ladies on board. I'd never trade the boat for a ski!
|

142!!! HFS!!! That's insane. My first ski was a 1997 Polaris SL1050. That's when the Kawasaki ZXi 1150, Yamaha GP1200, and SeaPoo 950, where all the big dogs and they all ran about the same at that 64mph; at 110-135HP. These were all two seaters (really 1.5 as two full size adults would fall right over on any of them). Now all the fast ones are 3 seaters, so they have enough room for these motors with all these power adders. That one, with the supercharger AND twin turbochargers.... wow! |
Anybody with a non-stepped 35ft or bigger Cig and 500's is lying if they say a jet ski never passed them........
|
Im not a ski expert by any means. They’re fun but I wouldn’t buy one. Theyre fast for sure. I always see skis trying to keep
up even at just at 60ish. They alway get a good little run but the INSTANT it gets a little bumpy they’re like “NOPE!” They can’t hang even at “slow speeds of 60 ish. Glass water? Yeah they’re little drag machines. |
I’ve only had one really try to bait me into something. Normally I go out of my way to ignore the behavior, but by the time I got up on plane and we rounded the bend into the bay he fell off quickly and I was only running 50 or so - cruise speed.
Wasn’t a rough day but he stood no chance. Our 155gtx is plenty quick, particularly in Sport mode. 90% of people have no business on anything faster. |

I’ve got to the point I’d rather pull the kids behind one of the Seadoos vs a boat just for the control and convenience. Love the acceleration of my tuned RXT but its top end is only for smooth water. |

I tell friends that want to jump on it that it’s not like the old 90s or early 2000s jet skis, you have to respect this thing or it will kick your ass and you’ll come to in the water gasping for air 50yds away from it. Some listen, some don’t. |
on steve morris,s youtube channel there is a guy building a over 900ci supercharged 2500hp jet ski if he can harness that power its got to be pretty fast

Definition of irony; a person owning a boat in what is by far the most overall hated genre of anything on the water (big block thru hull go fast boat), hating on another group of watercraft (PWC's).

Limped around the next day in the Outerlimits… no seadoos for awhile 🤣 |
I have the 300 Doo also. Just stupid fast 0-70 especially is Sport Mode. I have the most fun on Thursday afternoon before everyone shows up for th weekend.
Definatly Not running those speed in any kind of chop. |
I have an old GTX. Great for lazy day ride around looking at houses and stuff on the water. Not a choppy water hull, but is dependable and cheaper to run than a couple big blocks. We also have a 25 tritoon with a 4 stroke Suzuki on the back. Good boat all around and runs all day on 1/2 tank of fuel.
|
They are very fast but scare me when they go after us! Passed a go fast rare :hitfan:I took one out with a 68mph 2x496 35' boat on glass water! Choppy water not even close :ernaehrung004:
|
In 2005 I went off a Seadoo (supercharged) when I asked the ski to go right. I wasn't prepared for how quickly it could turn. I exited the left of ski at 55 mph bruising my right buttcheek. I still have no idea how other than the impact from the water. Then I jumped on a race model with the higher seat. That truly scared me. Respect these rocketships or they will bite you. They are fun especially in rough water where you will need to stand up.

Not even close. Wake boats are easily and vastly more hated than powerboats. Hands down. Thanks. Brad. |

My wife and I run our Sea Doos on the local lakes and the big boat on Table Rock...so we get the best of both worlds like many others here have posted. Most PWC drivers are pretty cool, but like every crowd, there is always that ONE guy, that acts like he has something to prove. The Sea Doos are a blast on smooth water, but I dislike riding them in any sort of chop.
|
Mine has depth finder and is nice going in back of coves and exploring.
|
I bought a new one last week to pull the kids around in the morning before the lake gets busy. I’m always up before everyone and usually fishing, but now have one more option for a morning cruise
|
Have a couple of RXT-X that get little use. Live on Lake Erie and when it's a East wind the waves roll to shore and we can get some large swells. That's when the my Son and myself get the skis out and the boats stay in barn. So much fun and yet so stupid.

Hell.... The most fun I've ever had was the times I was doing something stupid. "Have fun and be careful" always seemed like an oxymoron to me. Thanks. Brad. |
HGR Denelli 80mph jet ski close to $20K nice but insects when we're out on the water! Good chance 80 mph on flat water wind behind it:popcorn:
|
Almost at 68mph end of season but answer still NO:cool-smiley-026:

I ended up buying a jet ski this year to keep on the dock so my kids can enjoy it on non-busy lake days, and so I can pull them around on a tube in the morning. I did no research just walked into the dealer and said what I wanted to achieve.....tool around, pull kids, didn't need 330hp but wanted it to go 60. They sold me a sea doo tow sports 170 non supercharged deal and told me it would do 60 easy and I liked that it would be a little easier on gas since the kids are gonna wear it out. I had no budget, paid cash...just wanted in and out and didn't care enough about these dumb things to do research. I even questioned them a week later at the boat show and said you sure I don't need to get this 230 with the supercharger? No that 170 will do 60 easy.
I feel like a dummy I should have researched. I took that f*cker out to put it on my lift and it went 46mph. Started reading on my way home and its a 52mph ski at best no fuel and maybe a kid riding it. I was pretty irritated LOL!!! Its a big ass dealer. I sent them an email...a soft one and just said you know when I sell someone an engine that I say will make 500...it makes 550. When I sell someone a machine and I tell them it will do what they want in 5 hours...it will do it in 4. Maybe you guys should take that tactic so people leave happy and come back for more. They were total D-bags in their response, even the dealer owner sent me some BS email reply saying that thing will easily run 55 with him riding it. I wanted to reply but I could tell he eats foreskin and had 3 brain cells he was working with. Apparently I'm working with 2 since I didn't do my own research LOL. My jet ski experience. #1 rule when buying a boat. Get the max hp available. |
I have a 2022 GTI 170 for the kids and towing and it runs a solid 58 with anyone. I’ve seen 60 in sport mode and letting it go awhile. To me it’s more fun to play on than my RXT X bc that thing just carves and never slides. YMMV

felt like a dog everywhere honestly. I was wondering if the key was programmed wrong like it was the learner. |
