Default First Overnight

A first for our clan ... overnighting with two kids on our 33 ZX. A bit of a false start with a trailer blowout not far from the house (yes, wifey is part of the pit crew and is a boss around the docks at the helm ... she's a keeper!) and a few other delays then 37 nm south with a swim break to Colonial Beach VA and a slip via Snag-a-Slip.
All in all it was a great time ... the kids were swimming until after 9pm Sat and in the water again just after 8am next day.
Fantastic weekend!

Our "normal" ramp is less than ten miles from the house ... but still lesson learned on not having a suitable jack to change a trailer tire .

all tied up and time for beverages!

That’s exactly what boats are for. Good on ya’. (Not the blowout part)

Couldn’t find a curb or some blocks to run the trailer onto and lift one wheel off the ground? With 5 other good tires, a blowout wouldn’t have stopped me.

Ahh, weekender on the cuddy. Used to do that every weekend on a 23 Chris Craft. Best boating days. Amazing how he is napping almost standing up ! LOL

Thank you so much for sharing. A lot of the problems with todays youth is the fact that parents don't spend enough time doing things with them. What your doing they will pass down to their kids. Hats off to you...

Helmwurst -- right!?!? on the standing up ... he had the perfect lean going

Eddienel -- thanks and agreed! The virtual schooling nonsense has really had a negative impact on them which (to us) makes it all the more important to do more "stuff" ...

Awesome, both our kids grew up on our boats and they are pretty hard core boaters to this day...

Glad you had a great time. I laugh whenever I think back to when I bought a Formula 242 LS 13 years ago - I wanted just this, something with a decent cabin to overnight in, so I could head up to the Erie Islands, etc. once in a while or take on trips to MI. It was all good until...

WIFE: What? Sleep on the boat? I can't do that...all that rocking on the waves will make me sick.

ME: What are you talking about? What did you think we were going to do in that cabin? I mean, other than...

WIFE: No, I can't sleep on the boat. No.

ME: I don't get it. Those gentle waves help put ME to sleep...

WIFE: Not me.

ME: So you mean, if we go up to Put-in-Bay, I not only gotta spend $400 to fill the gas tank, but I gotta get us a room at a hotel somewhere, too?

WIFE:

ME:

WIFE:

ME: [wondering how much he can get for boat when gas was over $4.00 a gallon]

Nice Donzi and nice family. Put-in-Bay's gas is $5.09 as of last week. Eeek! Trailer tires seem to last not much more than 5 years whether you tow much or not. You might want to replace them all.

thirdchildhood -- true that on trailer tires; we have a car hauler, fifth wheel camper, and boat (obviously) and have learned that time not mileage is the killer of trailer tires ... you are spot on -- tires are on the short list

btw, thanks for the compliments!
