What's the boating like in SC or GA?
I can tell you this, having lived in Northern Virginia for 17 years (worst place I have ever lived in my life) moved to a suburb of Charlotte for 3 years and had a house on lake Wylie, and now in Clearwater Florida, on the bay, I would move back to the Carolinas in a second! Florida is “different” but nice, but the Carolina have it all. Low taxes, convenient to mountains and beaches and 4 seasons. I’m not a fan of sweating on winter holidays.

My buddy who lives on the water in St Pete just bought a vacation house up in northern Georgia in Clevland He loves it. I can’t get him to come back to Florida to go diving.

A 3000 sqft house on 5 acres for $250 is a lot of bang for the buck and Lake Laneer is an hour away.

I am about 20 minutes from cleveland, between cleveland and dahlonega. love it here. can ride in the mountains, 30 min to Lanier, couple hours to Tenn. NC, SC, AL and peaceful as I am on 5 acres also and can not see any neighbors from my place.

I got divorced late last year (after a trial 3 month separation, then back together to try and work on things for 6 months). I decided to take my cabin cruiser (34' Monterey) and my dog down to Florida for the winter, and let her stay in my house in Indy until she found a new place to live. Boated everywhere; Destin, Clearwater, St. Pete, Tampa, Venice, Englewood, Port Charlotte, Cabbage Key, Ft Myers, Naples, Marco Island, Everglades, Miami, Key West, etc. Had an absolute blast. Left Florida after Memorial Weekend and have been to Lanier, Cumberland, Chicago, and Put in Bay so far (along with Geist Reservoir, small lake that I live on in Indy). Cant beat having a boat that I can live on long term but still trailer all over the place. In 8 months this year, I've put 100 hours on my Nor-Tech and almost 300 on the Monterey. Divorced life has been great to me lol.

I think your idea of a "trailer able" boat is a bit different then most of us! LOL As for Geist, that is a mud hole for sure, nice homes but man small small lake. Looks like you had one heck of a year, fun times.

I've trailered it 17,000 miles in just over 3 years so pretty trailerable lol.

Yeah, Geist is extremely small but living in Indy it's the best option if you want to live on a lake.

Premierpower, sorry to hear about the divorce I guess. Otherwise you're the thread winner so far.
