If you want to use the boat as an everyday driver as I did when I had mine all you really need is liability coverage with a strong umbrella..ps.. I have a scaled model of the 41 warpath signed by Bobby if anybody's interested.. Maybe a raffle?

Nykamp 09-14-2021 03:39 PM

Hey Mark, let me know what you want for the signed model , please. Hope all is well. Steve

Nykamp 09-14-2021 03:41 PM

A member here and friend of mine uses his 41 apache that is mint pretty much weekly.. it's insured, 365 here in FL with no use restrictions.

Hagerty won’t touch something over 28’ and 20+ years old. That’s the cut off on a lot of insurers. They offered me boat coverage after insuring some of my cars and promptly said “no” when they found out the size/age.

Someone above said it, for old boats like ours you self insure the equipment and carry as much liability as u can get.

Is Barry Walker still around? I know he did boat stuff, but was he involved in a lot of the boat engines in the 80's? He is a super cool dude....

"The engines were originally sourced from Keith Eickert under previous ownership, and are said to have been rebuilt by Barry Walker of Air Flow Technologies, during the project. Dynamometer testing at Chief Engines, of Fort Lauderdale, reported produced approximately 1,000 horsepower per engine. The seller states that the boat holds 360 gallons of fuel per engine."

it appears BAT made a mistake, and it was corrected 360 Total

A very organized and coordinated effort to hype this sale including a large banner ad on this site.

of course it is, the boat is advertised all over the world and why wouldnt they purchase a banner ad on the best offshore site around? if you want to sell a boat/something why would you not advertise it?

Yes of course. What I meant was that it is an extraordinary amount of hype. Almost like the hype they throw at you in Barret Jackson minus the drinks and the screaming. After reading all the free press I would have thought this boat would sell itself. I guess not.

Ahh I got ya, sorry I was assuming the worst after the crap that the vehicule magazine dope was pushing. he keeps starting stuff as he tried to tell the owner he would advertise it for 10 grand and has done shady **** since then even insinuating Bobby and Gail are hiding something. Ive been banned from his fb pages for calling him out on it. on an auction like this its going to sit for a while till the end. there is a reserve, if it doesn't sell the owner does have other options. Im not at liberty to say, but the history and the boat will be taken care of.

No, I'm not a troll, just commenting on the process and the hype. Please get back to us when you are at liberty to speak about the options as many would be interested but I guess we will all find out when the auction is complete.

Stupidity, Buy Clifford which is not only built much better but built decades later and not raced to death.

rak rua 09-18-2021 05:27 AM

Did y’all notice the name of the current highest bidder? “Serialcollector”
I think he’d have to be (unless it’s a bidding tactic) and he’s gonna need a mighty big garage.

I was one of the people posting. There are in fact TWO companies left willing to touch that policy. Yes, the rates are high, and they will only write a policy that covers $.40/$1.00 of what the boat “should be” worth if you wanted/needed to replace it.

I have insurance to protect against people, not equipment.

I also carry a considerable amount of insurance of all different types for business (products liability, property, land and equipment, licenses, the list goes on). Those companies wanted no part of any insurance in an old performance boat, none.

so it’s both a price thing and the fact they will just not write a policy for a boat of that vintage. Mine doesn’t have much original wood left in it, didn’t matter to them that the boat is almost all new as it says 1990 on the title, that’s all that matters.

look how many 2005 outerlimits are up for sale. Going to be tough to cover those in 2-3 years.

You're dead on & is exactly what I went thru getting mine re-insured after foremost sent me a 100% increase in 2 years. Foremost will not touch older boats unless grandfathered in & you will be paying a PREMIUM. My quotes were higher for mine to be insured at $75K than friends were getting for mid late 2000's Cigs for $250k. Makes ZERO sense.

he said he owns a marauder and an ol 50? is he on here?

DRAG 09-18-2021 10:56 AM

I’m sure the history of that specific boat is worth as much as his desire for an Apache. Good buy for someone with a fleet of cool stuff already

So the boat might pull more money on the open market listed with a broker, it may take years to get it. If the reserve is 500K, he might drop it and get the bids into the low to mid 400's very quickly. At 380K I can't see the boat selling. That is crazy money for the other 41 Apaches but not #1

I think buyer and seller both got a fair deal on that. That's the best kind of deal.

Yup IMO not enough money considering 27' production powerboats are going for $335k. I feel Warpath is equal to the 1st Le Mans winning Shelby Cobra and was WAY under valued!

i tend to agree. However the car collecting world is infinitely bigger than the boat collecting world.

maybe that’s why there is such a disparity?

It's also a bit more difficult to store a 41' boat than it is a car.

if your randomly buying 400k boats to add to the collection.. somehow i dont think storage is an issue....

The only thing that was wrong with it was it wasn't done back to original. In my opinion was a mistake should of had the Open Class engines and the correct drives it you were looking at it as a collectors item. Just one persons opinion Dan

true, but at the time that the sixes were added it wasnt as much of a collector piece, i believe the 6's were done in the mid 90s.
