Glad they didn’t post a link to the auction. That’s the last thing I need is to drink online one night next week and buy another boat.

RSCHAP1 09-03-2021 12:59 PM

WOW
Sky is the limit...

SB 09-03-2021 01:46 PM

I'd rather have that than 4 Hunter Biden paintings, any day of the week ! Nice !

Wildman_grafix 09-03-2021 01:51 PM

For some reason link doesn't work for me, tried multiple computers

SB 09-03-2021 02:01 PM

Just tried it again. Works for me. Bummer.
It's Warpath.

Officially, now there are 3 boat paint jobs i approve of. very nice colors, very tastefully done.
couldn't guess the price, just hope it goes to a good home.
prospects should should pass an intense background check and character assesment to prove they meet the requirements to adopt

sailtexas186548 09-03-2021 07:37 PM

Hopefully not to the Middle East never to be seen again

1MOSES1 09-03-2021 09:14 PM

What an incredible boat and an incredible piece of history. As someone already mentioned that paint is so tastefully done. It’s like vintage champagne that never goes bad.

Hoping it goes to a good / worthy home…

amazing boat

hillwatersports 09-04-2021 10:45 AM

I feel like I was transported back in time looking at the videos and photos. What an incredible piece of history.

Hoping it doesn't get run out the Haulover inlet and cracked like the other one!

You are stirring the pot, and staring sh*t with a crazy comment about a beast of a boat.

I hope whoever buys this boat uses the Apache on the water driving out of Haulover, and not as a trailer queen/collector’s garage piece.

This Apache wont win the title of “Blue Top Legend”, but it is a legend amongst ALL offshore hotrods.

I love this boat! I am not bidding $1,000,000 for it, it should be interesting what the highest bid will be.

enjoy your holiday weekend !

offshoredrillin 09-04-2021 01:44 PM

Just to put the rumors to rest, its going to be on BaT (Bring a Trailer) for a week, there will be a reserve. as par the course the owner will handle it professionally and properly.

DId you not see the thread here on OSO with the cracked 47 Apache?

It was being used in the Haulover inlet.............and a 47 is certainly more of a beast than a 41

BAT gets insane money for almost everything on that site so I'd expect this Apache to be no different

Smarty 09-04-2021 03:22 PM

I saw the video, I read the thread, and I read where a 30+/- year old race boat, was/is still running strong. Argument over how it can be fixed (if yes or no) was discussed and I believe it is fixable. So if the Haulover Inlet thread now has you concerned that this 41' Apache, Warpath, may fail (which has less in length than the #69 yellow 47' Apache, so the longitudinal stress would be less in a 41' versus a 47'), if that is your point that Apache's can't take a wave after 30 years and that Warpath maybe subject to the same hull failure - is that your point of contention? Insane!

You are grossly mistaken, and you may appear biased against the brand. Do you believe there is and or was a better built race or pleasure V bottom out there, with the hull structural integrity, and or operational safety of an 41' Apache? If so tell us. Not being a ball buster, but this banter is much better than the Covid thread!

Yes I watched this Haulover Inlet video of the 47' yellow #69:

Apaches are legendary, no doubt but they are all getting old so there could be some failures in any fiberglass 35+ year old boat regardless of the brand if you go out there and run the balls off them like it is the Key West Worlds 1985 all over again. A Porsche 962 from back in the day might have some of the same issues if you show up at Sebring and recreate the 24 hour race.

Warpath is an awesome piece of history, I think it would be the hit of any poker run but I wouldn't go out and beat it up out of respect for the boat and its age regardless of the insane amount it will likely sell for next week.

If it sells. It does have a reserve and does depend on realistic valuations of this boat. Following this thread I'd have to say some of the numbers seem very optimistic. Is it a nice boat and a piece of history? Yes
I agree with your assessment of the boat, it's age and the analogy of the 962.

Interceptor 09-05-2021 11:46 AM

BAT seems like an odd place to try selling this boat. The site has mostly sold wood hulled older boats. Not sure it would get the visibility on BAT needed to reach the reserve.

BAT sells literally everything from old motorhomes to vintage motorcycles. They get it done fast usually a week but for something really special they will give it a 30 day auction. The big auction houses like Barrett- Jackson, Mecum and others have to be worried that this place is doing it faster/cheaper (less commissions) and NO transport costs (auctions want you to deliver the car/truck to their auction at your expense and then home again if it doesn't sell).

Scroll down to exceptional results section, look at how many 500K+ sales they have had:

https://bringatrailer.com/auctions/results/

This one was a real head scratcher.............https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1976-fmc-2900r/
44 yr old motorhome with a duramax..............151K?!?!

The last offshore brand boat that sold on BAT was this and it didn't bring big money considering its history. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...8ft-off-shore/

Boat was an oddball layout with great history albeit old motors/alpha drives. The restore/ yard trailer coated in krylon/no fenders and the steering wheel/peeling paint would make me wonder how good it was in person. No CRT hull number would make me wonder if it was a Cigarette Racing Team boat or just a "cigarette boat."

BAT has far from proved to be a place to sell nice boats, even less than six-figure boats don't fetch market prices on BAT yet. The only two auction houses that have gotten

all the money for classic high-end boats is Mecum and RM Sotheby's. They have both pulled off million-dollar sales of classic Riva runabouts for example. Here are videos of

two that sold for just short of a million, one in 2011 and one in 2014. Both auction houses have plenty more similar sales. I could see the Apache sell for a pretty coin at Barrett

Jackson in West Palm Beach this coming April, on BAT not so much.

P.S. The ex. Mark Donohue 1972 Cigarette was a complete steal imho. I know the boat and saw it shortly before the auction on BAT. Totally documented boat with lots of records. D.S.

Thanks for the information about dubious publishing practices. I couldn't agree more with taking a stand against that type of behavior. Great journalists and

photographers don't make enough money as it is. I sure miss good ol' John O. Crouse's writings.

P.S. Please do yourself a favor and get the new book "Blue Water Warriors" from the Historic Offshore Race Boat Association in addition to your classic "Searace" book. D.S.
