TOPPS Lake Conroe Poker Run 2021
This past weekend marked the 36th Annual Lake Conroe, TX Texas Offshore Performance Powerboat Squadron Poker Run and like every year prior went perfect with a single incident thanks to a great group of responsible captains!
Our TOPPS club may be small in total boats (This year we had 23 boats participate) as our poker run is closed to members only however we have raised tens of thousands of dollars for local charity every year and this event was no exception.
None of this would be possible if it weren't for the tremendous dedication of the TOPPS board led by President Carla Shouse, now in her 3rd year leading this group of Alpha males, Summer Inman -Vice President, Chrissy Ward-Secretary and our lone wolf male Todd Keifer -Treasure.
In total we had roughly 100 captains, first mates and riders and a good time was had by all.
This year's charity earnings will be donated to the named charities requested by 3 of our members families in honor of our 3 TOPPS Captains that we lost this year Bill Collora, Scott Leidolf and David Spear.
Instead of a moment of silence in their honor we chose to do 3 location stops with Moments of Thunder & Noise firing up all engines for all boats at once for spectators to see and appreciate.
No sooner did we get everyone tied up at the docks for the lunch stop than a torrential rain storm dumped significant wind and rain directly over us but thanks to Ben Richardson hosting us at the Palms Marina we were able to congregate mostly dry under the pavilion and then enjoy an amazing bbq lunch!
After more than a half dozen stops we finished out the afternoon with a pool party hosted by TOPPS members Scott & Dawn Chelootz before everyone headed off to shower and change for the final night of card draws and party.
Good times had by all!
