When I think of self made, I think of Mark Cuban, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates. Sorry, not trying to start a pissing match, I just have a different definition of “self made” as Mr. Christy put it.

Personally I give 2 fuks if someone is self made or not.
I just care if they are a decent human being or not.

Bill had the brains to get into Harvard and dropped out to fiddle with a computer in his garage. Mom and Dad's careers were not exactly in computer engineering.

Agreed. “Self made”…. Rich daddy….. Doesn’t matter. What are you doing to serve society? The reality is that, aside from hedge fund managers, who don’t really create anything of value to society at all, one can’t name that first billionaire who acquired their wealth without enriching all our lives in some way.
Thanks. Brad.

There are many successful people in this world that had opportunities based on family, but pissed those opportunities down the drain. There are others that took advantage of the opportunity and built it larger. Many times the "next generation" has brought on new ideas (technology?) that has actually saved companies from demise. Of course this is all behind the scenes and typically goes unnoticeable.
I am not saying this is the case with Cigarette, I just hate to see everybody that had an opportunity and grew with it lumped altogether.

We have to remember something… we’re all getting older. And in X number of years, there will be no more of this generation consuming boats.
Cigarette is synonymous in the industry with heritage and quality. But heritage means little to a generation that didn’t grow up with it, idolize it, or read about it.
Quality, machined parts, workmanship, etc are things that are becoming less important to the next generation.
So while the changing of the guard may be blasphemy to much of the old guard, why build boats that don’t appeal to the people actually consuming them (next generation).
Maybe exotic composites, lights bells and whistles, gadgets and gaudy colors are what the new guard wants. They’re in the business of building boats…. Not being a museum to heritage.
Just my 2 cents.
