The big red flag to me is it's from Texas and need an engine. Did it freeze last year? Is the other engine bad and they don't know it?
|
If it's missing one, the other isn't far behind.

I must have misunderstood $29k pesos?. Unless you know exactly what is missing a boat without a motor will be a money pit as you start trying to source little parts and brackets to get it running. Unless your doing the work yourself its going to be a money hole shaped like a boat, even then the owner is high as a kite on the price.

i had a maxum 3000 with twin 5,7 liters engines and they suck less fuel than twin 4.3 i had in a 30 doral prestancia wich was less fun to drive and more noisy!
i would skip it! |
A friend has on w 4.3V6 motors. Barley gets on plane. If more than 4 people forget it. Maybe his is not running right either but I wouldn't do it without V8s at least.

I'd pass for reasons mentioned above, and considering it was likely alway's underpowered.
There are a lot of those type of boats around Texas. Find out when sea ray went to all composite construction in the hulls and buy one after that year. A "good deal" rarely pans out in boating, it's just that you don't know what all is wrong with it. |
I know one person now and one who sold last year. Don’t bother with V6’s you will not be happy. It needs twin V8’s then the price would not be to bad if it Sea Trials well. Those boats are a dime a dozen. Keep looking 😎

helped a friend rebuild one of his v-6's in a 290 sea ray. took off from the marina, my heads down watching everything going on the new motor. its screaming along, everything looks fine, i pop my head up and look at the water and we must have been going 13 mph. holy hell that thing was a brick. i think a duck swam past us at the boats cruise speed.

They look nice, and are recognizable. Good advice so far to pass on this one, and they are a dime a dozen.
If your gonna slip and never trailer it, look for a 340 w/ inboards the difference across the whole spectrum is James Bond v. Jethro Clampett |
